    733 error on my HR21

I have a couple of premium channels that I have purchased, but two days ago, it pops up with a 733 error and will not let me view the them. I checked online and looked at my account and it is still part of my setup. This happened two weeks ago also, but that was because I had ordered it, but it...

New call from Dish to come back

The short answer is yes, they are desperate and they will lie to you. Here's what happened to me. I switched to D* last week, and canceled my E* account two days after the D* installation. Two days after that, Dish's customer service absolutely BOMBARDED my cell phone with calls. It went...

The "Just switched to D*" bandwagon

Switched today, installer got here two hours earlier than the install window. Only took an hour and a half to install, he even put in a new pole for no extra charge. :D Took a quick look and PQ looks a lot better on D* than it does on E*. My main reasons for switching were BSG (yes, I'm one of...

D*RM is here for all to feast on

Problem is, if the revenue from PPV drops considerably, the cost per month of regular service will rise considerably. If they lose a source of revenue, they're just going to bilk the customers who don't order PPV for more. They're going to get their money from somewhere, folks. :(

    Wow, that was fast.

That's what's weird. I get UHD and MGMHD, but not Smithsonian or HDNet Movies.

    Wow, that was fast.

UPDATE: Only took the guy an hour to install everything and it looks great! I can already tell the difference between E* and D* (although I did have to set Native to 'On' and enable 1080i and Dolby Digitial, no big) in SD and HD looks a WHOLE lot better. Too early to say for sure, but it looks...

    Wow, that was fast.

Well, my new D* install was scheduled today for sometime between noon and five. Figured since I had some time on my hands, I would take care of a bit of lawn maintenance before they got here. Took my cell phone just in case I didn't get done on time. Anyway, the guy from D* calls at, get this...

    Dish Mounting Question

Oh, I forgot to add one thing. I used to have an 811 and a DVR, which left one coax unused (and still is) when I upgraded to a 622. I only have one TV in the house, so I'm not getting any additional room runs. Will they be able to use the unused coax as well as the one I am using now without...

    Dish Mounting Question

So if I understand correctly, they may use a different pole (which is no problem, my father and I can pull out the old one). What about the existing coax cable? Will they use those as well, or will they run new ones?

    Dish Mounting Question

Ok then, next question. Will they replace the pole and keep the existing cables? The top of my roof is quite steep and about 30 feet off the ground. So I don't think they would roof mount it unless they have a bucket truck. The current Dish is in a good spot and I would like to keep that if...

    Dish Mounting Question

So, I'm switching from E* to D* on Monday, April 7th. I still have the old E* dish on the ground using the pole mount (waiting to cancel E* after D* is installed), with a wide open view of the southern sky. I DO NOT want a roof mount, and I don't think it would increase signal strength anyway...

Can I use a network connection instead of a phone line?

    Niiiiiiiiiiiiice. Thanks again. :D

Can I use a network connection instead of a phone line?

Thanks for the info. One more question. Will I get hit with a surcharge for not having a phone line? I had to pay one with E*, until they got around to enabling the ethernet port, at which time they removed it. Just wondering if D* will do the same thing.

Can I use a network connection instead of a phone line?

OK, here's the deal. I have never, ever had a phone line connected to my home. I have always used cell phones. The question I have is, since I have cable internet connected to a four port router, will the installer use the broadband connection instead of the phone line? Or do I absolutely...

Just defected to DirecTv from Dish

Switched this morning. Gonna wait until the D* stuff is installed and working before I call E* to cancel, which will be sometime Monday PM. Can't take the lack of HD and the empty promises on E* any longer. D* has 'em now, I want 'em now, I'm gonna get 'em now (Monday :D).

    Sci-Fi HD...when can we watch?

Well, I'm outta here. Direct, here I come. I will make sure the door doesn't hit me in the butt on the way out.

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/2/2008 3:10pm - 631 changes

Could we interpret the moving of locals to 61.5 to mean that more room is being made for national HD on the other sats?

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/2/2008 7:00am - 1 change

I don't think this volcano's gonna blow today, boys. Hope for the best, but when you're a Dish sub, you always have to prepare for the worst (or next Wednesday). :(

    Sci-Fi HD...when can we watch?

Wouldn't it be ironic if, during the season premiere of BSG, Charlie is revealed as the fifth and final Cylon? I know that most of us Dish subs would probably say, "Ok, well, that figures." :D

The weekly, "Will there be more HD launched this week?" thread.

Jeez, I thought all of the people who remembered those days were in assisted living homes by now. Hold on, wait..........huh? Oh, gotta go. The orderly says its time for basket weaving. And I was hoping for a game of checkers! Drat!

    What's YOUR tipping point?

Well, Sci-Fi HD isn't up this morning as of 6:00 Eastern Time. If it isn't there by the time I get home from work, I'm jumping ship to DirecTV. I might miss the premiere episode of BSG in HD :(, but no more than the first episode. Not only that, but Spike is showing all of the Star Wars flicks...

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/1/2008 11:00am - 4 changes

New HD will be up tomorrow, or it won't. If it is, great. Saves me the trouble of switching. If not, the next number I dial on my phone will be to DirecTV for a new installation.

Honestly, does anyone know the real holdup for SciFi-HD?

Future news headlines (most likely on EngadgetHD): April 4th, 2008: Sci-Fi HD not available on Dish Network; CEO promises it will be 'soon'; Battlestar fans threaten to switch to DirecTV. April 5th, 2008: Dish Network customer service switchboard lights up like Christmas tree; many subscribers...

What new HD channels this week?

And all of this pales in utter insignificance in light of the fact that my national HD is once again, gone. - Captain Jack Sparrow (with creative liberties taken) :D

    Sci-Fi HD...when can we watch?

When can we watch? Hmmm.......well that'd be WHFO or Charlie decides to abdicate, which I'm guessing will both happen 'SOON'.
