    Successful DirecTV Slimline Attic Installation

    a. I did not intend for this thread to be about the HOA restriction. It is about having an install that looks good and doesn't change the appearance of my home. I posted pictures and my results because I thought people would be interested in the fact that it could be done and the affect the...

I am also surprised. I moved the dish lower and further to the right after my original alignment because 119 is so much stronger than the others. 119 and 110 are still my strongest with 101 not far behind. I do get all of the channels in the 70s. I am pretty sure I get everything. I...

    Successful DirecTV Slimline Attic Installation

I live in a townhome. I own the house but because it is connected to another house, the roof is considered common area. I don't own any land except for the area covered by my house (zero lotline). The hoa has given permission to put dishes on the garage roof but I don't like how that would look...

I just looked at the pic. There is plexiglass in the window even though it doesn't show up in the picture. The black in the corners is just plastic over the wood and brick window frame. The white "snow" stuff is insulation.

Last night I had my first storm since the attic satellite install. There was a "Severe Thunderstorm Warning" from the local news channel and quite a bit of rain and lightning. I kept a decent signal for about 15 minutes into the storm. I lost signal about 4 minutes before my power went out...

    Successful DirecTV Slimline Attic Installation

My understanding is that OTARD only applies to areas which I have exclusive use. The roof of my building is defined as common area so I do not have exclusive use. My balcony would be considered an exclusive use area but I would rather switch to cable than have a dish on my balcony.

It's a window. It came with the house. :) I just had the existing glass replaced with plexiglass. As far as the rain. . .I'll keep you posted and my fingers crossed. I'm hoping it will keep enough signal but I have all the locals from my antenna so I have a backup.

    Successful DirecTV Slimline Attic Installation

After a week and a half I successfully have my dish installed in my attic. I have a 30 inch round window which I had replaced with plexiglass. I used dishpointer.com to figure out my height and optimal side-to-side position. I am getting between 60-70% on 99b, 101, and 103b and over 90 on 110...

    attic slimline installation

Okay, I looked at the house and the window opening is about 30 inches (not 20) and it is facing the satellite at 103 (According to dish pointer it is facing 105ish.) Assuming that I want the infamous invisible install, is this possible? Is it worth replacing a window with plexiglass to attempt...

    attic slimline installation

I am a DirecTV HD addict and I am moving to a new town house next week and it has some strict dish rules by the HOA. I have read the FCC rules but I would rather not fight to have a dish on my balcony if I don't have to (I don't want it on the front of my house). They will also let me put it...
