OK here is a real loop for you. I have been concentrating on the PQ of HDTV because thats what I bought my tv for and have finally compared the PQ of non-HD with D* to V* and V* is better. Everyone here is complaining of the PQ in this realm. Go figure!

The movie "Catch Me if You Can" is playing on HBOHD right now and I own that DVD. I switched between the two and the DVD wins hands down. I think all will agree that shouldn't be the way it should happen.

Tried the component cable which is better but, still not great. Tried several component cables-we have plenty of the good ones laying around so I swapped them out just to be sure.

The picture has a "haloing" effect and has the quality of our video editing decks have the Y-DNR and C-DNR turned up to +2 which causes a loss of detail while eliminating noise.

The set is HDCP enabled and it has 1080i native and is set that way. It also has "pure digital" mode so that it does not change the signal in any way. It has to be a bad box. Also, I used the DVI cable that came with the box and also the $100 DVI monster cable with no change.

Another thought, when using Direct tv and they had multiple high definition cameras shooting I could tell which camera was the better for resolution and color temperature. Now with Voom there is no discernable difference and the clarity appears muttled like looking through aquarium water...

I have compared the Discovery HD channel directly and there is no comparison. The color on Voom is lackluster and the definition is just not there compared to Direct TV.

it is not really a secret back door. It is just the installers menu. Push the Voom button on the remote. Go to setup. Go to the installers menu and once in push "988" on your remote. Other menus will open up.
