    S. Florida Locals WTVJ

I've had a similiar problem here in Mobile, AL. In June 2004 I couldn't receive 10-1 steady. Dish updated the firmware and the problem moved to 5-1, 5-2. In November 2004 when they updated the firmware the problem went away, at least for me. It may have just moved to another channel, 6?

    811 Program Guide Enhancements?

Does your OTA guide show any other information other than "Local Channel" or whatever it says. My information is just has the generic info. Note: I'm receiving my local channels directly via the TV antenna not the dish. Could be the local's aren't sending any info or maybe the feature isn't...

2.81 811 release. What are the new bugs?

Back in June my OTA 10-1 would not lock. After the July update, 10-1 (FOX) worked but the problem switched to 5-1 & 5-2 (CBS). Now with the 281 update the problem went away. Maybe to a different channel than I use, who know? What channel numbers were you having trouble with, just curious.

    811 gone crazy!!!

I don't remember who said it but I heard that the ability to load firmware easily promotes sloppiness in the coding. Someone who knows that what they send out is not going to be re-loadable without a trip to the shop has to put their heart into it or else they get a massive return of the...

Updated L2.81 Release Notes and future fix notes

FYI: I don't know when it was fixed but my VCR timer now works as advertised, at least as far as I can tell. It used to turn the 811 on and tell the VCR to REC but without any video output; now I get video like it's supposed to. The acquiring signal "bug" doesn't seem to be rearing it's...

    269 Fixed our 49% Issue!

Prior to 269 I had 49% problems with 10-1 and 55-1 (26 miles away) both owned by the same outfit and both broadcast via the same antenna; not just the tower but the same exact antenna. To start with I was going crazy because I had that 49% problem and I discussed it with the engineer at the...

    c band/large dishes

If I stopped watching TV because a severe thunderstorm (30,000' tops) was nearby, I'd never get anything watched. ;)

    c band/large dishes

I went to the link you provided thanks. I guess a 30" dish is the largest I can get and still receive two sat's at once? The 36" dish appeared to be only good for one sat itself. 30" would be better than the DISH 500 I have but would it eliminate rain fade? I'm not used to rain fade since...

    Tech question

If your TV has a built in digital receiver you can hook the antenna directly to the TV to receive your local digital signals and HD too if it's an HDTV. Most TV's do not have a digital receiver built in therefore the 811's off-the-air (OTA) receiver is needed or some other manufactures OTA...

    help: spider in my tv

The ones I've seen, you press the button on the can and it lock's ON. You and your pets leave the house for a while and air the house out when you return. The gas it emits will migrate into the cracks in the walls, under furniture, etc., and it does a pretty good job.

Anybody still use this old 1990 Large Dish

C-band Conversion I have a question if anyone's reading this thread. Can I convert my C-band dish to a DBS dish? Is it worth the trouble? My interest got spurred when I saw this in a catalog. http://www.skyvision.com/store/mi5034007.html

Anybody still use this old 1990 Large Dish

I don't think the Videocipher II data stream is supported anymore. You would have to get a Videocipher II+ which would cost a couple of hundred dollars. The receiver I know nothing about. My C-band receiver just died in June and I switched to Dish Network because it was going to cost me way...

Ground twice -- Good or bad?

I know when you have two or more grounding rod's that they should be greater than six foot away from each other AND bonded together but I haven't heard of the 20' MAX rule either. Could they be referring to IF you use #10 AWG Copper for the ground since if you use a #6 it would have less...

    c band/large dishes

I found this device at Skyvision and wonder if this will let me convert a C-Band dish into a large DBS dish for the purpose of receiving 110 and 119 on the Dish Network system? http://www.skyvision.com/store/mi5034007.html

    P268 is here!

Not sure what actually happened to cause this change but thought I'd post this info anyway. When I first got my 811 in June, I could receive all my OTA channels that were broadcast on UHF but could not receive the two broadcast in VHF (ch 9). Several days ago I saw the software update went...

    c band/large dishes

C-Band to DBS My C-Band receiver died and now I have Dish Network using a Dish 500. One of my disappointments with the "newer" technology is Rain Fade. Is it possible to convert my 10' C-band, mesh dish to a DBS dish to eliminate rain fade? If it's possible, is it really worth the trouble...

    P268 is here!

I got this receiver in June and it had P267. As of July 10, my 811 shows it has Software: P268LAFD-N but I don't see any obvious changes. What are the significance of the following numbers: SOFTWARE: P268LAFD-N BOOTSTRAP: 1012LAFD PROC ID: P0019418799-20 My brother-in-law's 811 is...

Force 811 to OTA channels during storm?

I know I'm being naive about this but aren't you supposed to be able to receive OTA without receiving SAT? The box didn't lose it's authorization which is, as I understand it, is what's required to active the OTA receiver section. Alan
