My 'reading between the lines' regarding the LCC is it will be a free item when it is (if it is) rolled out to everyone. It is a poor design though, requiring both the antenna and the dongle to be separately powered by individual wall warts. I do not know why they could not of just drawn power...

AM21 has nothing to do with the guide, as I am sure you know. All it does is tell the receiver that is connected, what channels it receives and if the channels are in the guide, it is populated. I get the same channels on the TV tuner as I do from the AM21 and all are in the guide.

The connectors do not go bad (except by corrosion), it is the wire connected to them or the soldering that fails.

I have great reception on 8 (35 miles to the tower), can't say about 7 (lol, no 7 transmitting here). 6 for me is fine too though I am under 20 miles to the tower.
