    NatGeo HD and Science Channel HD, SD versions were still available, anyone know what's up with this? It happened after midnight est last night. I was watching the re-broadcast of the Footprint show on the HD channel on a 211 then went to bed to finish it up and the channel wasn't there on my 622.

    after i made a test recording i hooked the ext hdd to my xp pc and it didn't see anything on it. i ran a recovery program on it also and it found some text files after over 24 hrs of searching. note 500gb ext hdd and after 24hr it was about 1/2 way done.

    i already have the hd dvd and i paid only paid $150 for it off ebay. i just bought it to have one and i only have 9 movies for it after 8 months. Most of those movies again from ebay no more than $15 a piece, i'm not a big movie buff.

    true, i can do that directy to my pc also with a capture device and i considered that route but i haven't been able to find one with anything better than a s-video connection so hd shows won't be hd. any burners out there with a hdmi or component video connection.

    the receiver won't recognize a burner, it won't even see ext drives below 20gb but if you know of a burner that will work let me know.

    dual layer disks hold 8gb, none of the shows i record are larger than that. my main concern is that hdds can and will fail and we can't even back up the contents of the ext hdd anywhere like to another hdd.

    well we are paying monthly fees and even a fee just to activate the ability to use the usb drive so to me with all that money tied up we should be able to do as we please with the files except reproduce them for resale.
