A message on behalf of techs to customers

As someone who is a supervisor in a call center, and sometimes has to deal with escalated situations involving techs, let me state this: That is per policy. Just like we aren't supposed to troubleshoot non-DISH equipment (i.e. DVD players), it's not the tech's job to do anything that is not...

Can Dish Network survive as a company?

Sadly, I take escalated calls from customers who did exactly that and don't understand that if you don't have HD programming, you aren't watching HD.

    NBA Season Pass

I haven't heard any updates at work. Hell, I was checking in here in case you guys had heard anything.

    Lnb drift

We have spooled out software that enables our receivers to work through "drift", which is why trucks aren't being rolled out for that issue anymore...unless you have an older model receiver on the account also (i.e. 2800),l which will still be affected. Building, you may or may not have to...

    NHL Network Woes

People....the provider (DISH, DirecTV, ect) does NOT control blackouts.
  6. F

    ATT& Dish

As far as I'm hearing, current customers will be "grandfathered in". What happens after the committment ends, I don't know.

Dish to start upgrading HD customers to MPEG4

It's not getting a new smart card, so that receiver will be rendered worthless shortly.

Dish Network and Vonage (program access fee)

Grrr.... please tell me the agent credited you for the $5? That's one of the first things I say to do with the Phonex units. But yeah, if you have a 622/722, the ethernet takes the place of the phone. And honestly, it's better and more reliable. As someone who used to install U-Verse for AT&T...

    1 Week for a service call ?

They WOULDN'T? If he/she was my agent, they'd get a reaming over that. If you have DHPP, they could've RA'D it. Ask them to do that next time, and if they don't ask to speak to a supervisor. That is unacceptable. We could even sell you one, although we rarely do as they cost more than sending...

Echo II gone?! (CONFIRMED) (Echostar 2)

Dude, we're replacing the 811 & 6000 rcvrs for FREE... you get a 211. We've been sending out mailers.

    Question about service technician fees

I actually don't know if you're charged for the LNB if you don't have DHPP. I'll have to check. I do know DHPP custs get them free.

    Question about service technician fees

Call us ASAP. As far as what the tech did, it may or may not be in the acct. notes. The signal loss may not necessarily be due to the alignment, either. If you're within your 90 days, which you say you are, there is no sense in waiting. This problem does *not* clear up on its own.
  13. F

    Question about service technician fees

Actually, with the exception of the LNBF and the receiver (unless it's purchased), you do own the DISH equipment. That said, every call I get, I look at the situation and use my best judgment. If it's day 91, I'm going to cut the caller some slack, esp. if they have a good history with us...

Average 622/722 Temperature thread, Is your's Hot?

When you "turn it off", you not actually turning it off, you're putting it in stand-by mode.
  15. F

What the heck is going on here?

True. I feel bad for the customers in Idaho. Those not affected by the weather are having to wait a LONG time.
  16. F

What the heck is going on here?

... You have to realize though, there is a REASON why it would take 3 weeks to get there. Techs are overworked as it is. If the schedule is completely booked, would it be fair to bump someone else off so a tech could come to your house sooner? How would you feel in that situation?

    Question about service technician fees

This line of discussion really p*sses me off. If you have an electrician fix your wiring in your house, does he work for free? If you're renting a car, who pays for the gas? Jeez... some people need to grow up. THANK you. Also let me point something else out... if you have DHPP and are...

Oh,okay. Thought he was asking about the 211k receiver.

Where's the DVR fo the VIP 211

If you're asking about the Vip 211K...still no update. I have seen what they look like, though...rather weird, like a deformed 612.

    rebate issues.... surprise, surprise...

All this BS is why I'm glad we changed up the DIU program and did away with rebates.
  21. F

Switching from Dishplayer 7100 to 921 -- what switches?

You actually just made it. There's no such thing as a "new" 921, as we took that out of circulation a while back. And actually, the CSR that activated your receiver might get in trouble for even activating it. You're okay, though. However, if it goes bad and you have to RA it, I honestly...

    TV2 high def

Speaking as an employee that deals with these questions all day, I suggest the 612 model rather than getting another 722. Actually, in the entire time since we put them out, I myself have yet to get a call saying one of them is defective. The 722's have the same rebooting issue as the 622s...

    Big Ten Network

That is very true. If customers ask me about that in regards to MLB, I make sure they realize that most if not all of the games would be blacked out.
  24. F

    DVR 721 and 921

Not only that, but we phased those out a long time ago, just like we seem to be doing with the 501/508/510 units.
