Which HD channel would you prefer to be added?

My "something else" vote goes for TCM HD.

    Turbo HD Packages any updates?

Interesting choice of "major" but even so: AMC HD exists, TCM HD exists, BBC America HD rolls out in July, CNBC HD exists, Headline news would be nice but CNN HD exists.

    TCM in HD ?

It's just being rolled out. Another Washington state Comcast customer in another service area has also received a notice from Comcast about the station being added in July. Insiders are saying that all content will be OAR (ie, not stretched or cropped), but that they will be relying on...

    External Hard drive ?

Okay, and since I only have one 622 right now, I don't hit that magic ceiling, I guess. But I'm assuming but the start up cost and perhaps the ongoing cost, is higher with the 622/722? "Quality"= reliability issues, or output quality (picture)?

    External Hard drive ?

Or a 612, right? I just realized this might be compatible with the external hard drive from my 622. If that's the case, that is probably what I need to do.

    TCM in HD ?

Second carrier appears likely to be Charter. Really really really hoping DISH steps up before any other provider I have access to. For some people, an offering like Sunday Ticket dictates their provider, regardless of other factors. For me, TCM HD would be such a "killer app" and I'd hate to...

    External Hard drive ?

So really the cheapest route for me is lease another 622 or 722, and activate the external drive feature on it.

    External Hard drive ?

What about the 222? I'd like to add a second HD receiver to my household, and just move the 750G drive full of stuff from my old 622 over to the new receiver and have a second DVR that way....

    Charlie Chat Tonight

Insiders are indicating that though there will be some upconversion, TCM HD will retain OAR.

    922 soon?

I don't doubt that DISH was clear. I do think the blog I was reading was less than clear about it. I guess if an HD Slingcatcher is not too pricey, that might be a good alternative for me.

    922 soon?

    Bummer. Dang CES reporters.

    922 soon?

I read an early spec sheet that said TV2 output instead of being SD, will also be HD. Has that changed?

    Cheapest way to get FoxNewsHD?

(being OT discussion) How can I add these state run outlets to my package? I didn't even know there were any! (Unlike a prior poster, I know you're not talking about PBS, which is a private non-profit -- and not government owned nor run.) I think we have a system like this now. It's called...

    922 soon?

What are the business rules about upgrading to the 922? Are we still expecting the fee to leave one will be $200 out of the gate? I really want the two separate HD outputs, and the remote streaming capability, and bigger+daisy chaining external drive capability -- and my old 622 is definitely...

    TCM in HD ?

Not sure what the rules are about direct links, so mods, please feel free to edit or delete this post, if necessary. Here is the thread where multiple people inside TCM have confirmed the news: AVS Exclusive - Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in HDTV! Finally. - AVS Forum

    TCM in HD ?

Looks like we'll get to know, soon, how well TCM works in HD, since it's launching (though on what providers?) this week, according to TCM insiders at AVS. For the record, I buy nearly every b/w Blu-ray that comes out, because the increase in image depth, shadow detail, grain structure...

    Rookie remote TV-2 question

I'm gonna chime in with THANKS too since I went looking for this procedure this morning, after failing to remember where I read about it, and found this thread -- which saved me MUCH aggravation. Thanks!

    Cinemax cropping HD movies?

Showtime is the only premium service that has an OAR policy. (Well, okay, if you call HDNET Movies a premium service, which I suppose it is, with the new packages, they appear to have a similar policy, too.) Voom did, as well, which was one of the nice things about them.

    Premium VS Voom Poll

When the Voom channels were pulled, I did a quick look at my DVR and realized that almost 80% of what was on there were movies from Voom channels (like the Planet of the Apes series, the Omen trilogy, several Kieslowski and Greenaway movies, and so on). The HBO channels are bitrate starved and...

How Dish's 1080p is going to work...

+1, though make that "open matte or cropped" since while some movies shot in Super 35 really do have extra info below and above the 2.40:1 picture, movies shot with a Cinemascope process do not -- and get cropped on each side by clueless networks like HBO far too often. (HDnet, Showtime, and...
