    Weighing A Potential EchoStar-DirecTV Merger

I do too, which is ironic since I'm one of the rural Americans mentioned whose only "legal" choice of TV provider would become either DirecTV, FTA, or an antenna. ~Alan

UPN & WB merging- does this effect the Super Station package

A lot of sub-100 markets don't have WB networks, except for Cable-Only, so I would think that CW would gain a lot more. For instance, Veronica Mars is the only UPN show that I like (I haven't seen EHC yet), so I will be watching CW stations a LOT more than I did UPN. I'm sure a lot of people...

SBC to take on AT&T NAME

I think a lot depends on the locals. My Uncle and Aunt's SuperDISH delivered LIL looks good... a LOT better than I used to be able to receive via antenna... though not quite (but almost) as good than the locals I receive via my Channel Master 4228 (and my local FOX affiliate may be close in...

    Charlie Chat Screen Captures

I just happened to check out this thread, and was surprised to see "Sandra" from "The Cosby Show"... and to think of the "special" guests they had on when I watched the "Charlie Chats"... ~Alan

First Look - Dish Whole House HD/SD Solution?

I had to post on the Dish Network forum again after hearing this. If I'm understanding this right, it's basically just a box that gives Dish Network the ability to effectively do what cable does, with only the satellite outside extra?! If that's true, that's VERY cool!! However, I have to...

Seems to be the case. I couldn't care less if I could pick up my local NBC affiliate's HD signal, but no such luck. ~Alan

going into solitude cauz i get no hd olympics..what so ever...

Both of these are neighboring DMAs of mine, Columbus's DMA is the next county over in two different directions. Yet, so far it looks like I'm still going to be without the Olympics in HD. ~Alan

Dish to air Conventions in HDTV (Now ON THE AIR!)

Though they might not care about the party conventions (and I honestly don't understand why anyone would), I guess they figure that even the parties could help sway the "Average Joe-Six-Pack" voter... you know, the ones who are impressed by GWB's "book learnin'"... of course, my theory doesn't...

Dish to air Conventions in HDTV (Now ON THE AIR!)

Considering the current state of "international affairs" between this country and the rest of the world, the rest of the world should be VERY interested in this election! ;) ~Alan

    Dish asks for your help!

The more I read the above, the funnier it gets! I may send a letter to ol' Zell Miller, and the others again! They might not be in the commitee, but they might be able to influence others nonetheless. :) ~Alan

    Dish asks for your help!

I sent a letter yesterday as this is something I would VERY much like to see happen VERY soon as I can't receive ANY HD (or digital channels) OTA, and the two stations broadcasting "digitally" in my DMA have no plans to increase their power in the next several years. However, today I got a...

    July 12th Charlie Chat Recap

I think it depends on what kind of programming you like. As far as movie channels go, Cinemax HD, Starz HD, TMC-HD have all become a reality and Dish and DirecTV have yet to add them...of course, you'd have to subscribe to their respective packages to get them (with the exception of TMC-HD on...

    July 12th Charlie Chat Recap

That's funny because most of the people I know don't even know what "HD" is. HD = Hard Drive HD = Hot Dog HD = Hot Day HD = Happy Days = The Fonz!! HD = Hard Day These are some of the things that they would guess "HD" stood for. You tell them it stands for "High Definition", they...

Retailer Chat - LIVE Update 6-15-2004

Yeah, it almost sounds like something Pegasus would do...and if this area wasn't already a Dish Network area, now that locals are available on Dish, Pegasus troubles, DirecTV is probably soon going to be almost non-existent in this area. ~Alan

Who has better Picture Quality Direct TV or Dish?

On my Hitachi (4X3) 50-inch TV, DirecTV channels look GREAT!! On my Aunt and Uncle's RCA (4X3) 61-inch TV, Dish Network looks grainy and just unattractive. On my cousin's and her husbands old RCA (4X3) 50(?)-inch TV, the picture looked better than my Aunt and Uncle's TV. The differences are...

    The Satellite War is ON!

I've been with DirecTV, and then later DirecTV through Pegasus for 10 years now, and though I would LOVE to have TNT-HD and Albany, GA locals which Dish either already has now or will have this month, I'm sticking it out with DirecTV, especially now that it looks like Pegasus is about to be...
