    Looks Like Lin is back!

I switched to DirecTV, but was with Dish a long time. They still don't have MSG in HD like DirecTV does, but that's a different story.. I look at our real recording habits .... or maybe I should say I look at my WIFE's real recording habits because I don't record much at all ... and she records...

    MSG gone too from DISH

Paying more? That's a laugh. I know it depends on what programming you currently have with Dish, but I had AT250 (no premiums) and switched to D* at Choice Ultimate level. I got 2 HD-DVRs (instead of 1 HDDVR and 1 HD receiver). Cost me $99 to upgrade that second receiver. With promos and...

222k receiver and getting surround sound to work...??

Many TVs only pass 5.1 through the optical out for the TV as source. If you have an OTA antenna plugged directly into the TV and are watching it. That's the TV as source. If you have cable TV connected directly to the TV, that's the TV as source. If you have an HDMI device connected to the TV...

    MSG gone too from DISH

chuckster...... dude..... after watching the games in HD there's no way I'd go back to SD. :) Although I hear what you're saying. Before I switched I would have accepted the return of MSG SD just so I could watch the Sabres.

    MSG gone too from DISH

You can't get Hockey Night Canada out of Toronto OTA? I can get it from my house if I spin my antenna around. Actually I get it not too terribly off the back side of the antenna.

    MSG gone too from DISH

With D* you can record 2 things while watching something you have previously recorded. I have a pair of HR24s and MRV. I can record in the living room and watch it in the bedroom and vice versa. My son can run directv2pc and access both DVRs from his computer and watch Smallville or Supernatural...

    Signal To DVD Recorder

The Hauppage HD PVR has component, composite, and s-video in. Also has analog and optical audio in. It has component out with either optical out or analog out for audio. I wonder if DRM would prevent you from "watching" a satellite DVR'ed program into the HD PVR.

Chrismas Music Coming Monday November 1st.

I think they should hold off Christmas music until after Thanksgiving at least. I'm not a big fan of Christmas. It just lengthens my to-do list every time it comes around.

ahhh... but far better than the SD feed from E* :)

    MSG gone too from DISH

When I made my decision to move over to D* I had to consider that E* might resolve the issues that were pushing me to leave. Nice to see they have apparently settled with FOX. I thought I'd be disappointed if I switched and E* settled. But honestly... even only after a week and a half or so, I...

That reminds me. I have to get some chips and salsa for when I'm watching teh game tonight in glorious HD on my new D* install. :) yeah, I know.... nose rubbing not appreciated. :)

I made the switch to D*....my first impressions.

You still need an internet connection somewhere in your house, whether it's DSL, cable, or whatever. The receiver itself does not get an ethernet cable plugged into it. The receivers talk to each other over the existing coax connection to them as the DECA module basically diplexes network...

OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

Normally if you get internet-only from a cable company, they charge you more because you don't have TV service. They have a lifeline cable service which is broadcast only (and clear QAM). Getting that lifeline service +internet is usually the same cost as internet-only. So.... if your bill from...

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

I agree and disagree with parts of this. I was a Dish customer for somewhere around 13 or 15 years. No premiums. No sports packs. Just a decent TV package (at the end it was AT250). There are a couple of channels carried by E* that aren't carried by D* and also the other way around. For a...

I made the switch to D*....my first impressions.

For Leafs games I can just spin the OTA antenna around and get Toronto. :) I think it's 52 miles, but it's almost all over the lake and I'm up on the escarpment on the NY side. So..... not too shabby.

Comparing AT250 to Choice Ultimate. No premiums, just package to package with 2 HD DVRs (one in bedroom and one in living room). When all promos and discounts are gone my bill will be $3 less with D* than it was with E*. So I would agree that the price difference is negligible if comparing...

Dish give cancellation fee rebates for new customers?

Not unheard of to work a deal regarding ETF. I just left Dish for Direct. Direct has a form I printed that you fill out and send in with your final bill from Dish. However while speaking to Dish when I canceled my service, they WAIVED the early termination fee. So I'd say it doesn't hurt to...

OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

If the AG has a contractual relationship or agreement with E*, then it doesn't matter 1 iota what contracts E* has with their subscribers. The AG doesn't have a relationship with E*'s subscribers. So if he feels that the agreement between E* and teh state was not kept, that's where his focus...

Dish = class act ... seriously

Several reasons. Loss of channels that a really watch (loss of MSG means no Sabres games and I am an avid Sabres fan). The fact that I'm saving $400 the first year with D* and about $36 the following year. The whole home DVR (really works well for how we use our equipment). As I've stated many...

I switched. And to anyone considering it because of the sports affected, please also keep in mind when making your decision that these disputes can happen to any provider. I made sure I explained that to my wife before we made our final decision. "We could go to D* only to find them in a similar...

Dish = class act ... seriously

I called today to terminate my account as I've moved to DirecTV. I have to say that I was sad to leave E* and the folks I spoke to on the phone were very understanding, extremely courteous, and just all around great about the situation. I've never had a beef with E*'s CSRs. I've always been...

    MSG gone too from DISH

My E* receivers are no longer connected. I can still watch the stuff on the DVR. Most of it my wife's. I connect an E* DVR and she watches the DVR'ed programs and deletes them. Once they're all cleaned up, I'll send those DVRs back to E*. I have not terminated E* yet, because I want to wait...

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

OK, it's a done deal. My D* install was yesterday afternoon. Went great. I'm now a D* sub instead of an E* sub. I'm not an angry switcher. E* couldn't give me what I needed. D* could. It's kind of a shame because I liked Dish and was with them for probably 13 years or more. No tears. No...
