    ABC NewsOne mux 91W

Barely 20 seconds and more like 5. It amazes me the amount of money they spend on a helicopter to circle for hours on some car wreck or other disaster and it gets 5 seconds or less on the main stream news. They send reporters out to gather news that never gets reported. The feeds are great...

    ABC NewsOne mux 91W

I found the feeds on the Internet. abcnews Live Feeds Looks much like before but added commercials between feeds. I can select the feed I want, then buffer/stream to my big screen without interruption. So far, so good, and only as good as my internet connection. UPDATE: If that's not enough...

    Titanium's New Product....

I'm guilty of abandoning shopping carts, but not this time. :biggrin

    Titanium's New Product....

No matter. It will be nice to have a fully functional receiver. I been living with a crippled box for too long. As soon as the snow melts away, I will try it out on a C band dish that burried in the snow.

    Titanium's New Product....

Must be a marketing thing to panic the customer into a quick sale. Some websites to that, showing products flying off the shelves at breakneck speed. I.E...Joe customer from Alaska just bought one...a few seconds later, Mary Jo just bought one from Florida.

    USALS Notebook

I just picked up on this thread... My question is, do any of the USALS calculations account for altitude, and does it make a difference? I live over a mile high above sea level. I know my head sunburns faster here than at sea level, and that all my clocks with a penduleum, had to be readjusted...

    CoolSat 5000 versus new STAB

Thanks! Good to know. Like I said, I have a lot of reading to do. A fast blind scan is certainly desirable.

    CoolSat 5000 versus new STAB

Well hey there bpalone! Thanks for the feedback and yes, Gillette is not that far away. Though, the snow makes it a bit more challenging. However, it's been pretty mild so far (knock on wood). Yup, after more thought, I think a 90cm will be a better fit. Starting to find more options as I look...

    CoolSat 5000 versus new STAB

Kodaz, thanks for that bit of info. I was playing with my warped dish today trying to figure out why the signal is so poor at the ends of the arc. From what I can see, at 125W, I need to tilt the dish down a tad. At 87W, it needs to tilt up a tad. I get pretty good quality when the dish is...

    CoolSat 5000 versus new STAB

Well, after reviewing my setup, I've decided I'm past due for an upgrade. Here's the plan... 1. Replace warped 80cm ku dish with new 1.2M ku dish and turn the 80cm dish into a bird feeder. 2. New beefier ku HH motor. 3. New HD receiver. 4. Repair or replace one of the cables. Fine tune the arc...

    CoolSat 5000 versus new STAB

So, it's now no secret my MicroHD died last night. The motor drive went out and I pulled my CoolSat 5000 out of retirement to quietly and calmly slip into it's place. The CoolSat does not receive HD, but I was surprised to see I really only lost 2 HD channels that I regularly visit. Just for...

    H&I programming schedule changes

I would have done that plus run him over with the saucer a few times making sure he got pinned between a thruster and loose asteroid.

    RTVE MT Schedule

I was looking over the RTVE 4th Quarter schedule and couldn't locate an accurate mountain time listing for the shows. Not sure what happened, but by my calculations, the time listings are way off for mountain time. So I created a spreadsheet with the corrected times. If you want to edit your...

    H-H Motor fun...

Was reloading firmware into my Geosat Pro and after making some minor fat finger goofs, the H-H dish laid over and my system went down. Good grief, what did I do wrong? Not a problem since the system went into commission in 2007. The H-H motor eventually found the zero reference, but now it...

    Reliable news or weather station

If Ku doesn't work out, try the variety of WEB based weather stations. I use the National Weather Service http://forecast.weather.gov and other commercial free sites to get the latest info.

Contest: Enter to Win a Titanium Satellite C2PLL: Two Output C-Band PLL LNBF - Ends April 30th, 2014

I don't remember being a kid...let me think...scratching my head...I have dim memories of going down to the local pond and looking for frogs. Yep, that was it. We would spend hours catching frogs and putting them into a big bucket to bring home. Bull frogs the size of footballs were very...

Is Radio Shack hopeless for this hobby, or is it just mine?

We had a whopping two RS here in Casper up until last week. The one closest to my house got the axe. Still good for the occasional oddball battery and fuses for my multimeter. If I was the RS CEO, I'd be selling the other stuff no one seems to sell anymore, stuff like quality chemistry sets and...

So, While watching FTA today, How cold did you get (outside)

Well, a few days ago we had -38F in some places, combined with 60MPH winds, gives -84F and worse windchill. Normal for this time of year. Some trucks were blown off the road and had to sit there until the winds let up. Too dangerous even for the seasoned locals to brave. When I go out to start...

    New SG2100 motor problem?

I would say the system is now operating correctly as I'm receiving all the birds in my visible arc. The fact that I'm off a hair, and that entering an adjusted longitude gets me what I want, just tells me that if I was to take a crowbar to my dish mount and nudge the hardware the amount equal to...
