    Ladderline

We used to use it in the 70s with antennas 1/2 to 3/4 mile away to feed B/W TVs. At that time it used to cost about $35/500 ft. After doing some checking it has signal loss of about .3 db/100 ft and is unaffected by rain like window line or twin lead. There's a few channels I could get about...

    Ladderline

Thanks. I looked at a lot of those, but it looks like 1000 feet would cost between $500-$750. That's not really an option to get a couple channels. Open ladderline used to be really cheap. I guess like everything else the price has skyrocketed.

    Ladderline

Does anyone know of a source to buy open wire ladderline for a reasonable price?

    Wiring question

Thanks guys. This info was very helpful. I decided to go with two single pass diplexers and an old distribution amp that I had back when I was in college. Old but still works. Since the antenna was going beside the shed, and it had electricity, it was no problem. Hooked it up between the...

    Wiring question

I just installed a new Winegard HD 7084P antenna outside on top of a shed that is about 50 feet from my house. In order to avoid running new cables I was wondering if I could combine the signal with my Dish Network cable and split it inside the house? The antenna would have a powered preamp...

    Low Band VHF

There is a spot on top of a little mined out plateau at 37.149474,-82.844778 (you have to look at the satellite imagery because the terrain features aren't exactly correct). If I set the antenna height at 1 foot it shows that I could get WCYB at a noise margin of about 9. With the antennas...

    Low Band VHF

I do have satellite. I just want WCYB, and it's out of market. I grew up watching channel 5 on analog. We also got WJHL and WBIR, but since the digital transition --Nothing.

    Low Band VHF

I've been pondering the idea of the passive repeater. The peak to the southeast is on my property, but the thing holding me off is that it has no electricity. No houses, buildings etc... and I think that this idea would work best if I used a signal amplifier between the two antennas. That...

    Low Band VHF

I've looked at TV Fool for the area all around my house, and the closest place that has any signal is about that far away. I could go about another 75 feet up the hill and probably get a noise margin of about -2 to 0, but that's not on my property. On top of the hill the noise margin is about...

    Low Band VHF

Until a couple years ago when WYMT upped their power I couldn't even get that. Assuming I can pull in the signal at this location with an antenna with enough gain, could I use let's say a 25 dB pre-amp to get the signal reliably along the 300 foot cable run?

    Low Band VHF

I live in a hole (signal wise). So far I have been able to get a local CBS station and a local PBS affiliate fairly reliably. The one channel I would like to get that still eludes me is WCYB-TV. It is broadcast on channel 5 vhf. I've worked all possible scenarios at TV Fool, and the best...

    Signal Reflector??

Has anyone ever constructed a signal reflector to bounce UHF/VHF signals around obstructions to their antenna. I saw a brief description of the process on the internet, but it was lacking in details. No explanation of required size, signal loss, etc...

    Valley woes.

I just checked TV Fool again, and there are a couple places around my house where it says I can get signal for about 7 channels but it's really low (-18.7 NM(dB), -109.6 Pwr(dBm) to -24.1 NM(dB), -114.9 Pwr(dBm) all 2edge). I'm deep in the valley, so the signal would be diffracted over the top...

    Valley woes.

I read somewhere once that you could use a wireless broadband repeater to send uhf signals up to 1000 ft. Has anyone ever heard of such, and if so, how?

    Valley woes.

From my house I can only receive signal from one station. The rest are blocked by mountains. While looking at TV Fool I noticed that the top of the hill (on my property) behind my house gets reception from about 20 stations. The problem... its about 1000 feet away. Is there any way to get...
