8300 Scientific HD box using HDMI

As far as I recall, TWC's box disable the analog (component and RCA) ports when the digital (HDMI) port is active. You could connect your LCD with component and VHS via RCA.

Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR Questions

While it won't tell you how much "record time" you have (that would be too easy, right?), if you are more technically inclined you can see space utilization on an 8300HD running Passport. To do it, go to channel "999" and then scroll down to "DVR AVFS". I am currently using 137.1 GB with 13.4...

    Anyone use CableCard with TWC?

Thanks for the tip! Do you have a Tivo?

    Anyone use CableCard with TWC?

Hey folks! I'm giving serious looks to the new Tivo HD DVR. I want to get two CableCards, but I'm curious how TWC charges for those. I know that the cards, themselves, are $1.75/mo (in this market). Does anyone know if they'll charge me for an additional digital outlet or anything like...

    8300hd Hdmi

I don't know if it is related, but in this area the 8300HD enforces HDCP pretty strictly. Do you know if you TV supports HDCP? Here, if the HDCP is present but fails to negotiate, I get a HUGE black screen covering the entire display with a message to switch to component. I've never plugged...

TWC San Antonio is adding HD channels!

Great... What is "Too Much For TV"? What HD channels did you have before?

    Available DVR storage

Do you know what software you are running? I'm running Passport and can find the information by going to channel 999 and going down to the DVR info pages (I can't remember what they are called off my head). They are near the bottom of my list.

Lincoln, NE Customers Upset over New Software

I am going to infer from your post that eSATA is NOT supported currently on the SA8300HD. Wow. Bummer. I was about to add some space to my chronically cramped DVR.

    RoadRunner Alternatives

Thanks for the suggestion... though, just to be clear, I don't move movies, just files in excess of 1GB (averaging around 2GB). :-) And, I also use Netflix.

    RoadRunner Alternatives

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. So, Clearwire worked very well. It had solid performance and no problems with reliability. If you are noting the verbs in past tense, I had to cancel my Clearwire service. The only real problem with Clearwire was the one that I initially feared --...

Slueth Channel adding in East NC

http://www.timewarnercable.com/nc/programming/channelchangeupdate.html Slueth Channel and TV Azteca have been added in TWC eastern NC terrtiories. Also, they shuffled around a few channels with the removal of the soon-to-be defunct Home Buyers Channel. Slueth is avialable in the Digital...

DVR Series Recording Issue (Dallas/Fort Worth Tx)

What box and what software do you have? I remember something similar here in Raleigh. As a work around, I reset my recordings for the digital simulcast channels (ours are in the 200-260 range). If you don't have Digital Cable, then that won't work. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

TWC DVR - are all outputs active all the time?

I can confirm, unfortunately, that with the HDMI in use the component outputs are offline. Which, sadly, curtails the usefulness of my brand new Slingbox Pro and the HD connect kit. >sigh< Have to look for a work-around now. Anyway, I have the 8300HD DVR running PASSPORT 2.5.066 here in the...

New HD channels in Southern Maine

To quote Fletch (in costume), "It takes a big man to admit when he is wrong. I am not a big man.". For the record, I checked interactive program guide, the website and the flyer that accompanied the announcement of our newest rate increases, and saw nothing new. Still, as I am scrolling...

New HD channels in Southern Maine

STILL, nothing new... in over a year... And with the shutdown of INHD2, that puts Raleigh, NC's net total for 2006 at -1. Nice job, huh? HD is all the rage right now after this holiday shopping season and TWC is dropping the ball big time.

    An Argument Against Consolidation

Steve.... My argument was against CONSOLIDATION... as in, all services from one broken carrier. MY phone service was not interrupted, but if you did have TWC's phone service, it was down today along with the internet. I'm glad to hear the Orlando system is very redundant. I'm thrilled for...

    An Argument Against Consolidation

Check out the story here, then read on... This is a pretty compelling argument against consolidating your phone/cable/internet with the same folks. Worse still, I am disgusted to know that Time Warner hasn't invested in any redundancy. I'm on the other side of the city and I was affected by...

    RoadRunner Alternatives

The antenna is, I would say, letter sized (8.5x11) and it sits in my window. Nothing needed outside, though. I will mention to anyone in the RDU area, they are putting up more towers in Briar Creek, Wake Forest, and Apex areas in the first half of 2007.

    RoadRunner Alternatives

Premium account is regularly $36.99/mo. with a modem lease of $4.99. So, at a monthly cost of $42/mo, it isn't a $$$ saver over TWC. It's about the same that I pay for RoadRunner. For the first three months, the premium service is $19.99/month (a savings of $17). Any other questions...

    RoadRunner Alternatives

My patience with Time Warner Cable has elapsed. As part of a longer range plan, I'm phasing them out. First thing to go, though, has to be Internet service. As I live in NE Raleigh, I'm out of range for DSL and satellite-based Internet is way to expensive. So, at the moment, I am presently...

Lastest... umm... "Bull Product" from TWC

Ack. Nearly everything I watch is on CBS... including the local news in HD. I'm not sure what the disconnect is between Capital Broadcasting and Dish Network, but they need to get their crap together. I am trying out Clearwire in my home now as the first step in firing Time Warner Cable. It...
