I have done a power scan and WVXF is the only NBC station I can find. (Fortec star dynamic)

    WVXF galaxy 16@ 99 w

I have been watching the Olympics on it with no trouble except occasional mild pixilating in fast action shots. When things slow down the picture is fine. Haven't figured this one out yet. Signal and quality are great.

    Weather Channel

I was flipping around on AMC9 last night and got it. Watched a very interesting feature about smog, the 1948 Donora PA disaster. I believe it was one of the MUX stations.

pulling my hair out aligning dish

My dish pole was ever so slightly out if plumb when I first got started . By straightening the pole it made a world of difference and the rest came much easier. I have found that patience, precision and paying attention to all the great help from this forum makes for a thoroughly enjoyable hobby.

    AmericanLife TV encrypted?

OK that explains it. I must have read wrong. On the lyngsat site looked like it was a free channel. Thanks, but I still have a lot of reading and learning to do here before I even think of connecting my 922.

    AmericanLife TV encrypted?

I have been trying to get AmericanLife on my Foirtec Dynamic but AMC 18 is not listed in the receivers menu. Can someone explain how to add AMC 18? I'm not having much luck (still a newbie). I have AMC 15 locked in that is also at 105w according to lyngsat website.

As for the second dish, it would take a crane just to put the mount back up on the existing 6" pole. I found the dish (in 4 sections) back in the woods covered in brush and weeds. It is fiberglass and REALLY BIG. No apparent damage to it though, seems like it was retired and put out of sight...

Once LAK7 got me on the right track it wasn't as difficult as I thought. I have been reading this forum dilligently for a couple weeks now so as to not ask too many stupid questions and have seen that LAK7 and everyone here are very patient and knowledgeable. The help is very much appreciated.

Not yet. Chainsaw has to help with that one. Since the previous owner of my home installed the dish, the trees have grown quite a bit. There was a pizza dish on the house when I bought it so I assume the BUD had been out of commission for some time. They also left a second BUD (disassembled) ...

Understood. Thanks to your help I have gone from 0 to 100 without knowing how to drive, to Mach5 with a learners permit. This is getting a bit addicting ! I'm myself not a big TV watcher (but the Mrs. is) I am having more fun making this work than actually watching TV.

Got it. However I had to eyeball the dish and more or less take a shot in the dark. The signal strength bar remains at 40 no matter where the dish was UNTIL I start a scan, then it lights up.

The wife now has control of the TV. I'll be able to list some channels a little later. I do remember one channel in English, AMG.

I checked the channels I am getting against a few listings on the internet and YOU ARE RIGHT. How did I do that? ( get over 300 syations on KU when I had everything wired wrong and the receiver setting wrong) My lnb must be seriosly mis- installed, I have it set to AMC1 and am getting a...

If that's the case, I have had the Ku band only cable attached all day and been using the 5150 setting on the receiver and have been getting good results. (Granted, about 3 out of 300 channels were in English) How did this happen using the wrong port from the feedhorn? Now I'm really lost. And...

Well I turned it on this morning and gave it another try. Scanned a few satellites with just C band and it is working ! However when I put the switch back in line to get KU I get nothing. I followed the instruction and powered everything down before connecting or disconnecting the switch so it...

OK. Connected the 4D to C band only (I believe it is the connection on the back end of the feed horn) and locked in on AMC3 87W, no picture but signal strength of 90. Followed your instructions for the fortec and got signal of 40 still and found nothing on P-scan. Had good signal on the 4D but...

Spent the day today trying to make the new setup work and nothing. Ran all new wiring so I would'nt have any issues, tested it with the 4DTV and all good. 2 Runs of RG6 Quad shield to the Disecq sw in the house and new LV actuator wire. The receiver will not give a signal strength more than 40...

I took LAK7's advice and bought an FTA set-up. Sadoun sent me a Geosat c/ku lnb, diseqc switch, G-box 3000 and Fortec Dynamic receiver. I mounted the LNFB in the existing scalar ring (no different than the one they sent me) followed all instructions (none for the LNFB included) and can't seem...

Analog for now. I just went to that site and put in my address. I won't be able to get squat. Barely get a signal now. I can see why the previous owners had satellite.I'm really leaning toward the package deal with a 30" dish. I think if I try to replace my lnb and get all the other components...

Right now all I get is KFSM out of Fort Smith on CBS. I've looked into a new antenna but there are no digital stations predicted to serve my area. Actually alot of rural areas will not be able to receive DTV broadcasts.

Right now the only station I have left OTA is CBS (soon to be gone) Been that way for quite some time now. So any improvement will be nice. Local news would be a plus. If I had to depend on what I get on the BUD now, I would never have known that a tornado levelled downtown Thursday night ! (I'm...

I would like to keep the whole ordeal under $300. From what I've gathered so far, I'm thinking I may be better off getting a motorized FTA complete kit from Sadoun for around $250 and Ebaying the 4dtv. With my OTA antenna going useless in June, I njust want to be able to get some basic channels...
