    Canceling Dish Network

They will want the STBs, remotes, and LNB. If you tell them that your LNB is way up high and you can not get to it they will waive the requirement to return that item. Of course, if you purchased the equipment it is yours.

    Why no PBS-HD?

Because Charlie thinks you would rather have 24 shopping and public service channels. Unfortunately, Voom will be dead come end of month. If you want HD via sat. you probably have to go to Canada's Expressvu through a broker. They offer ALL of the network feeds in HD including PBS.

For those of you wanting HD now!!!

I already have tons of HD. All of the VaVa Voom HD channels plus about 15 more via OTA. None require the no longer used E* Dish still on the back of my house. :-)

Can Dish Pickup Some of Vooms Programming?

Can they .. sure. Will they.... Charlie says there is no compelling HD content available, go watch Bingo.

To Far for OTA ? Are my locals going to look better with E*

When I had DISH I would rate the PQ of local channels as follows. 1) OTA Digital 2) Analog Cable 3) DISH 4) OTA Analog

Will Dish Network grab VOOM customers before DirecTV or cable companies?

VOOM subs, such as myself, are there for the HD offerings. When VOOM goes dark I think that most subs will look for the provider with the most HD. For most people that means going back to cable. DISH is far back in last place when it comes to HD offerings. Cable will be there with their...

Press Release: Echostar Communications Buys Rainbow 1

Well, my VOOM install was scheduled for next Friday. Guess that won't be happening! I am still pretty dissapointed with E* but I guess I will give them a couple of months more to see what happens before going back to cable. Bottom line, I want my HDTV and E* just is not delivering...

Lighten up a bit on DISH

Brad, Many of the people complaining about DISH were customers from the start. The very same people who helped the company get off the ground. The same customers who BOUGHT all of their hardware INCLUDING when it came time to upgrade. These are the people who encouraged others to sign up...

    Disg getting Installed Thursday!

If you can get OTA where you live then you will be much happier as you will also likely get your HD locals which are NOT available on DISH. You could always go with VOOM. They will install 3 HD boxes for $1 AND provide a free OTA antenna installation at the same time.

    Dish HD vs Voom HD

Hey, speaking of sinking ships, GM abandoned both the Firebird and Camaro! Better jump off that sinking ship avatar and onto a rice burner. :-)

    Dish HD vs Voom HD

As oppossed to what? The wealth of HD offerings on DISH? If you are serious about HD there are currently two options. VOOM and cable. DISH has become the last place player in the HD race. Finally, with $1 for a three room setup what is the risk? If they go bust you are left with an...

811 Regulalry Deletes my OTA Channels??

No, they are just gone. The only way I can readd them to favorites is by rescanning.

811 Regulalry Deletes my OTA Channels??

I have an 811 and am fortunate that I can pick up almost 20 OTA digital channels. Problems is that after I scan the channels and add them to my various favorites lists that all is well for a few days. By the end of the week, several channels will simply have vanished from the list as if they...

What is minimum package to avoid early termination fee

Just called them. Termination fee is $240. I can return two of the boxes and keep the one with only AT60. The latter is probably the most cost effective approach. That is OK as it will leave everything in place for me in case VOOM goes boom. For those thinking of DISH and not certain...

What is minimum package to avoid early termination fee

The only form I signed is the one which the installer brought along. It is the DISH Network Service ASgreement DNSC Form #1, Ver 11-15-03. It makes no mention of DHP or early termination fees. It lists 6 terms and conditions, mostly related to the install itself. I did not sign anything...

What is minimum package to avoid early termination fee

The only thing I actually signed was the install doc. There are no terms or conditions listed there. Basically just says I acept the install. Not sure if I clicked an "I Agree" when I signed up at dishnation.com but they did not e-mail me anything either in terms of a contract?

What is minimum package to avoid early termination fee

Thanks. But can I return the two HD receivers so that I am only paying for AT60 on one box?

What is minimum package to avoid early termination fee

Hi All, Although I have a few months to go on my contract I am ready to drop E* and give VOOM a shot. I do have a 12 month commitment due to the DHA-12 package. I currently have 2 HD receivers and 1 basic receiver. It has been suggested that it is cheaper to keep a minimum...

    Jumping Ship, Dish vs. Cable

Comcast is offering HD Silver for a year at $29.95. Even after the year is up, I will have more HD, AND HBO, AND a rented dual-tuner PVR for $10 more than I am paying DISH. DISH needs to seriously look at its business model. They have lost on the cost advantage, they have lost on the...

    4 Year E*, soon V*

Add me to the list. If they deliver the announced new channels in March I will even eat the E* early termination fee. However, I agree with previous poster, content matters more than resolution!

Soon to be dish customer with many questions

They will install it wherever they have to to get an unobstructed view of the satellite. Generally, they will not want to climb any higher than they need to. They will likely tap into an existing ground even if it is a cold water pipe. They are responsible for grounding in accordance with...

    Jumping Ship, Dish vs. Cable

It is kind of disheartening to see how the tables have turned. A few years ago cable seemed to be hopelessly behind in terms of programming, equipment, quality, and proce. Now cable is really giving sat a run for the money in all these realms and the dbs providers do not know how to respond...

Moved to Direct TV after 8 years at Dish.

If D* did not charge such a high premium for their HD receivers I would go that route. I am not thrilled with E* at the moment but will wait and see what the big announcements are in February (maybe they will buy out Voom). If nothing there, Comca$t is offering a pretty sweet "win back" deal.

    Jvc Hm-dsr100du E* D-vhs?

Why it would hardly seem like DISH to abandon customers of their top end equipment. ;-) Actually, the csr tech is the one who told me I needed the DishPro adapter so it appears that it still has at least minimal support.

    Jvc Hm-dsr100du E* D-vhs?

OK, this one will really date me. I still have a JVC HM-DSR100DU from back in the days of my original E* service. At the time it was a great system with the ability to record stunning video on D-VHS tape (in mpeg format). Only down side was the fan which sounds something like a 747 on take...
