    Im a Dish customer again

Couldn't believe Retention tried that hard to keep you happy on month-to-month. Maybe I should give it a try. ;) ! Havent been a customer for years, but might still have a 508 or 301 kicking around. . . . Ever hear of OTA? Cant beat the price, & no contract. But here in Los Angeles, we have...

    DISH MODEL DTV66E

DirecTV = Slimline If you want DishNet satellites, you should use their dish. The LNB technology and spacing between them is specific to the task. If you want DirecTV satellites, you need their dish. IT is equipped with Ka LNBs as required for their service. If you want service from both...

The 17.5° of elevation might be the bigger challenge. He'll need a clear shot with no obstructions. And either tilt the dish slightly downward, or (my favorite) invert the dish on the pole.

Can you turn a VIP 211 into a DVR?

Does the 2-day EPG become a week-long when you plug in an external hard drive? Is there any other disadvantage to using a 211k? I see 'em on DishStore for $120. Seems reasonable. Is or is there not an extra monthly DVR fee once I pay the $40 activation? Any problem adding two to my account...

    Dish Pro Plus LNBF question...

Okay, I just re-read your question, and understand it better now. If you only have TWO dp capable receivers and NOT three or four... You can mount the DishProPlus dual bird LNBF... which has only two outputs.. but a spare input.... Then, if you strap your 129 LNB along side (a dubious idea but...

    Dish Pro Plus LNBF question...

no: Not compatible . In the dish world, you don't mix DishPro with Legacy. As for the DishProPlus stuff, there are other limitations, too. The receiver would work with either all legacy or all DishPro(plus), but not a mix of both.

Poll, Do you have your NEW smartcards yet?

In less than 24 hours, you have over 150 votes? I think whatever numbers show for the answers, speak well for themselves. I've never set up a poll, but I thought you could have it time out in a week or a month. The voting would then be disabled. Or, PM one of the moderators and ask them to...

How to turn a 36" dish into a dish 500

In the FTA department, we put multiple LNBs on dishes all the time. We have all sorts of tricks and techniques to hold the LNBs. Why exactly do you need to use a 36" for 110 & 119? But more to your specific problem, here's an oval Primestar with 110/119 LNBs by McGuyver. And, here's a close up...

    Got my TR-40CRA today.

Yea, but what about firmware? The new box with the "better" tuner (DTVpal Plus) seems an interesting variation, as well. I have been ignoring the whole DTVpal fiasco for a month or so. So, I might be a little out of touch. Just waiting for the f()[[3&* to ship one with an improved remote...

Problem with 508 DVR...just the drive?

follow up Glad to hear you had such a painless experience! Changing out the tuner chip is not for anyone but the very experienced. And it only applies to 501's. The 508's and 510's were never affected. Nor, did your symptoms sound like tuner chip problems. Love my 508. For an SD receiver...

Need help with a 3 sat legacy setup

That is an excellent solution. (if you are willing to consider it) I changed over from Legacy to DishPro a number of years ago. The SW21 cascade idea runs out of steam at two receivers. When I did all this, I put the DP34 inside the house. Seemed like an easy solution - and I didn't have to go...

    Andrew 2.4m RX 110 & 119

yes ! Yes, I know what you are talking about. We had a similar discussion with some folks from Alaska a year or two ago. They have same problem. I think that guy gave up and put in two dishes. People in Mexico often use two dishes, too. That's the easy-to-understand solution, but we might have...

    My issues with dish

There are other solutions to this problem, if re-aiming your dish doesn't satisfy. But they cost money and you might have to do a self-install. Just depends on how fed up you are and how serious you are to fix it.

Need help with a 3 sat legacy setup

This takes me back. Not sure, but this might work: Hook 61º dish directly to your receiver and aim it properly. Personally, I'd use a $10 meter - it's a snap. Then once you've got that 61º signal... If your original wiring and switch layout doesn't work, put the SW21X on the 110/119, ...

    20" to 24" Upgrade?

That may not be a path you can follow. The only reason the Dish Twin (110/119) LNB works on the supplied dishes, is because it matches their geometry (focal distance & LNB-to-LNB spacing). Move that Twin to another dish, and the LNBs won't aim at nor focus on the correct satellites. That's why...

    Aiming of Dish 500

How far off is it?? My pole for my Dish 500 is off maybe 20º, leaning to the south. It's my fault, but the signal's dialed in fine. Not something I would recommend doing on purpose, though. Yes, they are. But still, it would seem likely you would get some wiggle of the meter on the...

Adding FTA receiver to DishNetwork setup

What are the 5 Steps of Acquiring Signal

You might want to watch the same screen when the LNBs are Legacy. I haven't in a long time, but I believe there were around 32 steps. I always assumed it had to do with testing the possible hookup variations of all the switches and LNBs. Or am I thinking of a different screen?

    DTVPAL Remote Address Problem

It certainly doesn't look like DISH considers it a problem. It's been known for a long time, and they still pretend it doesn't exist. They directly sold units to known Dish customers. I haven't heard any reliable answer as to whether they'll actually deal with it, either.
