vip622 using 4 external drives to a hub

If you have a USB switch the way is works is that when you switch from one drive to another one you first get the message that a USB device has been disconnected (the 853 popup) and then about 5 - 15 seconds latter you get the message (the 652 popup) that a multimedia device has been connected...

vip622 using 4 external drives to a hub

USB hubs will NOT work on a 622 or 722. As P. Smith said you need a USB switch. I am using one on each of my ViP receivers (I have a total of 7 USB drives on the two receivers). I am using this model. With this switch you also need to use "b" to "a" adapters for each drive you attach to...

    Cincinnati HD Locals

And in February, 2009, WKRC-DT (now on UHF channel 31) is going to VHF channel 12 (were WKRC-TV is now). DISH could not come to an agreement with the parent company of at least one of the Cincinnati stations. That is why we were "skipped". As for not being on their RADAR, that is just...

811 looses signal if I go to a specific channel

Nick (ch 170) is on transponder 16 from the 119 satellite so you need to check the signal strength on that transponder (menu, 6, 1, 1). If the signal is low your dish may need adjusting. If you see the signal jumping around it could be, as ajg1950 said, a cable or a connector problem. Also...

Bad news regarding Dish and "DRM"

Scott is absolutely right. We need to tell the programmers NO. We also need to tell our satellite companies to stand up to the programmer and tell them that this is completely unacceptable to their subscribers. If this happens on a lot of content it is going to really, really hurt the video...

    61.5 going to spotbeam?

There will only be 4 transponders that will be used for spotbeams from 61.5 and they will very likely be used for HD locals (maybe SD locals too).

    EXTERNAL USB 2.0 drives?

There are a TON of posts about external drives on the ViP 622 and 722. And, yes, that work very well as long as you choose the right drive.

Does DISH722 support QAM for Comcast local stations?

A lot of people think that but it just isn't true. It all depends on the type of agreement the station has with a cable company. In most markets the local Sinclair HD station are encrypted if they are carried on the cable system. Some systems have been unable to come to aggrements with...

    Echostar 11 application

If they are going to use "reverse DBS" band as has been mentioned the dish will need a different LNB.

FCC Approves Dish Acquisition of Sky Angel TPs at 61.5 W

Yes, that is 100 correct. That means that DISH will be able to add 12 more MPEG-4 HD channels to the 61.5 satellite. According to the FCC document Sky Angel (Dominion) has 60 days to vacate the transponders. They could ask for an extension and it would likely be granted unless Echostar...

I tried moving my external storage drive four times today and it doesn't work

The 622/722 does not support drives that small. The supported drives are 60 GBs to 750 GBs. Although 1 TB drives are not offically supported I do know a few people that are using them and they haven't had any problems.

HD OTA Antennas for local channels...in Japan?

CB, I'm in the Cincinnati area and I get the Dayton OTA HD stations here (via the ATSC tuner in my ViP622). I do have a very good outdoor antenna and that helps a lot. A good site to go to to fine out the type of anttena you need is AntennaWeb Put in your zip code and it will give you the...

Sending component video from 622 over cat 5

Not transceivers (two way) but they do have transmitter/receiver units. Look for the CE Labs line of HDTV hub equipment. Here are some MCM stock numbers that you might want to look at: 33-10255, Cat5TX (Transmitter) $109, 33-10256, Cat5RX (receiver) $129. This stuff isn't cheap but it...

    622 and dvd recorder

To record programs from the 622 on a DVD recorder set the format (*) for stretch. Remember that it is a separate setting for SD and HD channels. HD channels will be a little cropped but if your are going to play back the DVDs on a SD TV it is the best choice to use.

    Atsc/ntsc?

And just to throw in something else -- cable uses NTSC for there analog channels and QAM for their digital channels. Most cable companies encrypt all of their digital channels except for the local broadcast channels. DISH Network also uses QAM for their MDU (multiple dwelling unit)...

    622 needs a software update!

I ran into the same issue so I bought a 4 port component/composite/audio distribution amp (Radio Shack 15-1941). It works very well for the (about) 60 ft. run that I have for the second HDTV. My Sony HD HDD DVR (for cable and OTA) is connected to the HDMI port (I had it before I got the 622)...

Hum and Rolling horizontal lines !!!

It is actually called a ground loop and it is caused by improper grounding somewhere but it is not always at the satellite grounding block. ANYTHING that is connected to the TV can be causing it. The TV itself can cause it. A missing or faulty home ground can cause it. Cable TV companies are...

ALL of the 622 tuners can record HD. You can record THREE HD programs at the same time (if you have an OTA antenna hooked up and can receiver local HD stations).

    Bombard CEO office with request

What you don't understand about carrying stations via satellite apparently could fill volumes. First, there is getting permission from the CW station in Miami to carry and distibute their HD signal outside their market (some stations want to be paid a lot for that). Second, there is the...

    HDMI Splitters?

Yes, component is analog. What you need is a HDMI distrubition amp. You should be aware that they are quite expensive right now but should drop in price as more device have HDMI. Component distribution amps (with either digital or analog audio) are more reasonable and you may want to go that...

Lame PC World Story about HD DVRs

The problem with PC World and, for that matter, PC Magazine, and other as well is that it takes them many months to publish an article that someone submits. I wrote a few for a couple of magazines and it took them six months after they accepted the articles for them to publish them. The...
