Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

Hearst and DirecTV settled within 7 days. It's been 2 weeks with Dish, with no end in sight.

Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

Local TV stations, and the companies that own them, still bask in the bliss of protectionist federal legislation. Which means they can offer crappy signal, vapid public affairs and preempt network affiliate programming at will without any retribution at all -- unless local advertisers abandon...

Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

DirecTV got this fixed within days. If history is a guide, this will likely take weeks.

Have Sat TV - Who provides your internet service.

That was my argument for bundling with Mediacom two years ago -- they saved me about sixty dollars a month. But two years later I have unbundled and gone back to DirecTV and Vonage although I stayed with Mediacom for internet because there's no reasonable broadband alternative in my Des Moines...

Your top 10 most watched channels?

If one streaming service had MLB Network, NHL Network and NBA TV, as well as a DVR, I'd drop cable, buy a Roamio and make that the way to go. But no streaming service has all those.

My local fiber provider is a pipe dream. I envoy those with choices.

New TV dish pq seems less impressive now

I would imagine the latest: Genie and Hopper 3. But a good point. I'll ask. I wouldn't want to get earlier-generation equipment. Been there. And to the earlier poster, what method would you recommend rather than a side-by-side comparison? With DirecTV still keeping my wife's favorite channel...

New TV dish pq seems less impressive now

Interesting. Could it be the quality of the satellite signal?

New TV dish pq seems less impressive now

As I noted, the in-store comparison was made on twin Sony Bravias with menu settings exactly the same -- sharpness at 90, full resolution supported. DISH was noticeably softer. Even softer than my Mediacom service on my 2-year-old Insignia 50-inch.

New TV dish pq seems less impressive now

Stumbled on this thread as I was considering whether to select DISH or DirecTV. Heard a lot of great things about DISH hardware but some iffy things about PQ compared with DirecTV. But I was impressed with DISH's packages, and the service's other features.Having had DirecTV before and not...

Recorded shows are part of show and then the part of another show

That's what we did on Sunday for CBS shows "Madam Secretary" and "Elementary," which would start and run late because of NFL games. We extended "Madam Secretary" to a 3-hour slot and the same with "Elementary." As a result, we got them all, but they overlapped on recordings.

Dish & Contract Disputes - Channel Blackouts

Yes, and me too, which is why I wouldn't go back to DISH, where I was a customer from 1996-2007. The hardware may be great. But what good is it if you can't watch the channels you want on it?

    Dish can go F$@% themselves

I was a DISH customer from 1996 to 2007. Upper tier of programming. Autopaid since they introduced the feature. Never had a late bill. When I call to ask about going back, they still have me on file (don't think they ever delete anyone). But all I get is the standard pricing, plus additional...

Why did you choose Dish over DirecTV?

Sounds like my story. Got DISH also because they had east and west coast network affiliates, and I missed my New York stations! Stayed with them from 1997 to 2007, when DirecTV came calling with less costly service and more HD channels I wanted. Stuck with them until 2014, when Mediacom cable...

Wow, intro deals keep getting worse and worse

Some people still use them. And if it means getting high-quality video service -- include local sub-channels and whole-home TiVo -- and fast internet for sixty bucks a month less than you would pay for satellite TV alone, I want the home phone.

    DISH Introduces Flex Pack

My Mediacom ~ 100 would go to $85 if I unbundled. So with satellite it would put me at about $200 a month -- $60 more than I pay now.

    Tribune Broadcasting Company Blacks Out DISH Customers in 33 Markets;

When I log on to a news organization, my ISP isn't charged a fee, payable to that organization, which, after all, owns the content it produces. Why should a television station, which distributes its signal over the public airwaves, benefit financially from that signal being redistributed...

    Same with carmakers.

Bundling Tipping point has been reached?

Bundling won't die. Have you shopped for a new car lately? To get the options you want, you have to also pay an additional two grand for stuff that's useless, like alloy wheels and a spoiler.
