Emergency Retailer Chat Recap - Aug 28th

You better get a lot of popcorn to last those very many months it will take for them (at their own pace) to review and decide on 800,000 waivers. You certainly don't expect them to hire more staff or work any harder to get this done? The pile will sit there and be processed no different than...

    Judge Stops Countersuit against TiVo

Isn't it amazing and ironic how many are quick to criticize and complain about TiVo's legitimate lawsuit against E*, and then discuss suing E* for breaking what they percieve is a contract with them. Some weird irony in that when it comes to loyalty. Like I have said before, if Dish is forced...

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Okay all the wishful thinkers and straw grabbing delusional posters in here have prevailed. Dish is buying TIVO and they are going to drop the lawsuit against themselves. That's because TIVo is in a corner and has no choice but to let go of this golden egg that has hit them in the face and...

Do you really think TIVO would do such a thing? 1st they must want to sell. 2nd there would have to be a lucrative enough offer that would be hard for their board of directors to refuse. I know everybody (corporations included) has a price they would sell at, but I would bet TIVO's would be...

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Well it was on Fox News Channel & CNBC the day it broke. I don't watch CNN but something tells me they wouldn't be left out. It was on all Denver area local news channels, and in the newspaper the next day. It was headlined on my ISP's home page news section along with other national news. So...

Then Joe Q public must not watch or read the news, and Joe Q Public makes up most of the current or potential customer base. And when they are paying upwards of $100 a month to watch that news on DISH I guarantee they do care and they do pay attention and it does affect their future decisions.

I didn't say this was like the final days of V*. Just that the remarks in this string are reminiscent of the final months of VOOM. Straw grabbing remarks that we constantly saw in the V* forums that were out of touch with the reality of the situation . Dish will not fail nor cease to...

Ken is right on. It is almost a given with injuctions of this type for them to be "temporarily blocked" to allow an appeal. This decision by the upper court is nothing to dance in the streets about and has no bearing on the final outcome.

If you really believe that then now is the time to buy stock in Echostar. The price has fallen rapidly and will continue to do so for a while. You'll make a fortune when your prediction comes true. :D

30 days or YEARS you can be certain the legal costs of this decision will be passed on to the customer. If the decision is upheld (which is a real possibility) DISH is doomed. In any event this action is going to have a serious impact on Dish's ability to compete for new customers until this...
