1000+ HD Chanels on D*, any E* rumors

It seems that E* gets burned on a weekly basis about something they've promised that ends up blowing up in their face. SuperDish, 921 release, Firewire, NBR .. you name it! Their MO is to promise the moon and deliver a rock. If E* had any inclination of going head-to-head against D* current...

Dish Network Tech Chat (Feb 21st)

You guys kill me with your loyalty to Charlie. These chats (and Charlie's promises) haven't changed a bit since I left back during the SuperDish/HD fiasco (18 months ago). I swear they'd get more accurate information by letting a chimp arbitrarily pull choices from a hat for release dates...

Voom for Sale, Will Dish Buy?

I don't see why any of this matters. Even if Charlie buys Voom's assets he'll still continue to produce buggy hardware, mislead people about future upgrades, and take months and months even for minimal updates to the buggy software. Looks to me like nothing more than another big carrot to dangle...

Disk makes 6:00 news for being a deadbeat

C'mon, the 921 was the FIRST HD-DVR for satellite -- and that's all that matters.

    CBS And Viacom Are Back!!!!!

Where did you see how much he paid for this deal?

DISH fighting the battle for DirectTV

So, the answer is you DON'T have any real info about how D* "bent over and took it" from Viacom? And your statement is just YOU slinging negative comments about D*, right? No, I'm not a big fan of E* and have no reason to be after how they've handled all kinds of issues over the last year...

DISH fighting the battle for DirectTV

So Rupert Murdoch and News Corp didn't bring any leverage to the table? Uh... Ok. You go right ahead and believe that. And, since you have such great knowledge about the "huge increase D* bent over and took" with the D*/Viacom deal, please enlighten me. Go ahead. In the meantime, I switched...

DISH fighting the battle for DirectTV

D* has already signed a deal with Viacom (a couple months back I believe) so they're set for several years. E* just doesn't have the power that cable or D* has at this point. They really need to merge with a bigger company to give them more leverage at the bargaining table.

stop complaining, it will not get us anywhere

People will never stop complaining. People just LOVE to complain. Even if everything worked the way it was supposed to people would still complain about not having some special feature they think is important, or the color of the device, or << insert any subject matter here you want >> Look...

I guess Charile should've told them they were reviewing a beta unit.

Charlie on VOOM (From Retaile Charlie Chat)

It's totally content. The last part of the clip clearly states... "..they've put some pretty good products out there and to the extent that they do that looks like something we might look at carrying". Sounds just like the end of last year when he said something to the affect of "we're...

Does DISH spy on its DVR/921 users?

The whole point of my post was to point out that, if you're someone paranoid about information being collected about you ... take a deep breath ... pretty much every company does it already and they just don't publish stats about it like Tivo just did. Anyone ever use a grocery store "reward"...

Does DISH spy on its DVR/921 users?

From Dish Network's Privacy Policy web page: DISH Network's overall policy is to allow the consumer to "opt-out" and not be contacted with offers by DISH Network and/or partner organizations. If a consumer does not opt-out, DISH Network will collect and use customer and prospective customer...

    Any Tricks to Leaving Dish?

Tell them whatever you want. If you want to complain, feel free. If you just want them to cancel, just tell them to "cancel, i'm not paying anymore". Bottom line is once you reach retention, and you will, you're talking to a salesperson who will say anything to get you to stay. They may even...

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

I agree. Wishlists and Tivo recs are pointless. I don't use them either. However, season pass (ie: name-based recording) is, IMO, a requirement for any DVR. It simply makes the process of recording show a no-brainer. For instance, "The Apprentice" has been changing days and times ever since...

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

Don't forget idiot, joe sixpacker!! :D Once again. Look at your posts. Defending E* shoddy receivers. Why don't you address that? Can you say, fanatic? Caller Id? - Pointless extra Browse? - Browse what? I can browse all kind of stuff. 1 hour buffer? - Never wanted to move back...

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

Sounds logical to me. My money's going to products that work. But don't try to convince Chris. He'll just call you an uninformed, fanatic, joe six-packer..

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

And E* users just take the beta units they're given and then whine about all the problems. <Thinking to self...> <how much further before this thread is closed....>

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

Oh, I'm sorry. I guess YOU'RE the only one with the right to call people fanatic. Dude, look at your posts. THAT'S FANATIC! :haha BTW, E* DVR users would kill for Tivo's "lack of vision". :haha Go ahead, admit it. Never mind. We know the answer. :yes
  21. S

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

One thing I'm ABSOLUTELY SURE about is that E* will NOT buy out Tivo. :no Why? Because it would be the smart thing to do and E* hasn't been smart for a very long time. Look for E* to continue to DUMP PRE-BETA products on its customers. :haha
  22. S

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

True. The only bad thing (I can think of) about D* is their new sub deals. Pretty much the best you can get right now is $50 DVR and a few months of HBO free. Not bad, but it certainly doesn't match the offers E* has for low-cost DVRs and HD receivers. Having said that, I still consider D* a...

Straight and Simple: D* or E*?

As a customer, you're investing in the company to make good decisions about the service they're giving you. If you feel management is making bad decisions you should invest your monthly dollars in a different company.

Straight and Simple: D* or E*?

Good point, Rad. E* decision making appears to be based on how they feel when they wake up each morning. Lots of confusion and changes in direction. This, along with their hardware issues, were the main reasons I left recently. D* has new management now and I see that as a really good...
