So none of you (with a good unit) have anymore pixelization, sound dropouts, and all those old headaches everyone use to complain about a year or two ago?

I have a DISH 522 DVR.... it was great for many months and just the last month or so.. I have SO many glitches (the old picture pixel problems).. and sound dropouts.. some of which are so bad the sound doesn't even return unless I pause and then hit play again.. and sometimes it even STOPS...

I was arguing with my brother that no way could our millions of tiny dishes be talking TO the satellite... But.. he says it must.. since you can download ON DEMAND your billubg info.... local weather.. etc etc.. even without a phone line. True?

I have a 522. I want a 622 for my HD ready TV. Will that fall into the $99 after 4/1 bracket as well?

Yep.. that's what I meant... Better to rephrase it too "When will they HAVE to swap out my 522?".... (which doesn't support Mpeg4) :confused:

My brother just got DISH TV a week ago... he got the HD package with the 942. What does this mean for him and the VIP622 changes and MPEG4 and all that stuff I've read about.. etc. Is this going to cost him more money than if he had waited a few 2 weeks? Or will they swap out his 942...

What is the VIP622? Will this be an HDTV unit? Yes.. I can certainly wait.. no rush.. I'm very happy with my 522 currently... just looking for better image quality via component video out and HD. I got many years (hopefully) of TV watching ahead of me.

I imagine only a bedroom would be a real problem.. do what we do.. we sleep every night (summer and winter) with a fan running. I LOVE the sound of a fan.. helps me sleep.. and drowns out ALL other sounds! :)

Sounds like it is a defective 522. Just in case.. try a different output like digital out. Or another amp to prove that it is in fact your 522. Mine is dead quiet.. so if it's your 522 call up dish for an RMA and exchange!

I had this same question not too long ago.. my findings? Just use the RCA connections unless you have the one of the ONLY six or so channels that actually use DD. I DO have showtime and HBO now.. and (only) two of each use DD.. so I indeed do get 5.1 surround digital sound.. but only on those...

YES! I have learned the FIX! Just hit pause.. which works.. then click the commercial skip button (to forward one frame).. and THEN you can start slow motion forward or reverse and it won't jump.. it will work as it SHOULD then.

I have had my 522 record stuff 'out of the blue' too.. stuff I have never even heard of. Rare.. but it does happen.

I show "64hr 25min Avail" on my 522.... 34 programs recorded.. which add up to around 22 hours. SOOOO... where'd did those extra 14 hours go? :( Is it basically a scam that the 522 has "100 hours" or recording time.. and it's really more like 65? It always seems to exagerate the time...

First time ever having this unit it is working flawlessly!! Everything is functioning now.. all the weird problems are gone! Very few (if any) audio drops and pixelation even. I THINK THEY GOT IT RIGHT finally!...? Everyone else cool with 2.51?

You CAN have more than 50 timers on a 522... I currently have 67. I had a timer issue like the thread suggests... but it just went away after enough HD diagnostics... and time.. about a week.
