When Dish had CNNfinancial a few years ago, from midnight until about 6am CNNinternational would air all the time... when CNNf died many were hoping CNNi would take its place in the lineup but instead it was removed and nothing put in its place...
Fort Smith is right on the fringe of Spotbeam 29 < http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/database/Subscription/images/CIEL2_SB29.jpg > Digiblur, Smith or Nelson would know what TPs are active on that beam and you would be able to 'move' to any city within that beam if you get an acceptable signal...
Not to hijack the thread, but what I was suggesting was he do what he did for someone who had posted their Ciel II signal with a 1m dish. Take all the different readings people posted and then match them up on a google map so there is an idea for the estimated contour...
nelson, if you were to go over to the BellTV (expressvu) thread, you think you could make a similar master map of all the people who posted their signals for the Nimiq satellites (and then you can use that to draw up an estimated footprint contour of the satellite which can then be embeded into...
118.75 has no spotbeam capacity. Everything on it is CONUS. With that said, the HD Locals on 118.75 are expected to move to 129w once their spotbeams get fired up since the super majority of the people who get their HD locals in those markets already have Dish 1000+ over a Dish 500+
Lander, WY is outside of the Denver spotbeam. Cheyenne, Torrington and Casper are all in it though as it only partially covers WY.
Looks like you need to find an HD local that is available on conus and those are few and far between right now. Check 148w out right now for Alaska HD locals...
Ciel 2 has lots of spotbeam capacity. The most of any satellite that Dish Network has ever used in the past. It is expected that Dish intends to use these spotbeams for the purpose of HD Locals, similar to what they have done at the 61.5w orbital location and the spotbeams there.
Erie, PA is on 129w and that is a CONUS beam until Ciel 2 arrives...
New York, NY is on 119w CONUS for the main 6 networks (CBS,ABC,NBC,FOX,CW,MyTv)...
You aren't going any farther north than that unfortuantly without being in the proper beam...
So the regular NFL season just finished a week or two ago. DirecTV is going into their final year of their exclusive agreement for the NFL Sunday Ticket package in 2009. Do you think Charlie Ergen is going to negotitate to bring the package back to Dish Network?
Scott, if you guys have an...
Nimiq announced awhile ago if memory serves that after Nimiq 5 they were going to be laying off of the launches. Also, I don't think Nimiq 6 would go to 77w when 77w is a Mexican slot. In fact, I believe the new 'Dishnetwork Mexico' is going to have a satellite launching there as a Quiznat (sp?)...
Thats the other thing E14 for 119w has already been announced and all contracts signed. That one will be good to go. Its Echostar 15 that may be delayed but that is 3-5 years away and who knows what will happen by then... I know my stock broker doesnt...
