When will the 522 be available to existing customers?

WOW! :shocked If you were given the 522, that sounds like a good deal to me. Congrats!

When will the 522 be available to existing customers?

Are you giving them a 510 that you own in exchange for a 522 that you are now going to lease?

My 522 doesn't know basic math, does yours?

The 1 hour = 1 gig on the hard drive is an optimistic generalization. The more action that is occurring on the screen, the bigger the file will be. So a 2 hour football game will take up more space than a 2 hour poker game (unless the camera moves A LOT during the poker game).

Top Ten reasons to watch BingoTV

Ya see, that's the problem with the rest of the country: ya'll get caught up in semantics! Here in Louisiana, once home to the most corrupt lottery in the nation*, we don't allow gambling. This is in spite of the fact that we have horse racing, 2 lotteries, oodles of scratch-and-lose tickets...

    Favorites Lists

Although this doesn't help you out, things could be worse: we DTivo-ers only get one favorites list and we have to manually set up our own "All Subscribed" list.

    Duel Tuner - 322

I thought that the new DHA plan only provided a limited term warranty and subscribers had to purchase the 'new and improved' warranty plan after that expired to continue the protection. I'm still not clear on how this works when someone doesn't have a commitment.

Dish to introduce portable DVR by XMAS

Dish has a definite, established pattern. It probably is kind of negative to expect bad results but if I were betting my hard-earned cash, I would not be betting on them having a flawless roll-out. Personally, I hope I'm wrong. The more pressure Charlie keeps on, the lower consumer prices...

    LIVE 1/27 Retailer Chat Coverage

I brought this up when I first heard about this plan. I can see Dish being able to force people to pay for equipment if it is abused but not if it fails within the first year of service. Probably damaged/abused equipment would not be covered anyway, warranty or not. So much of what is...

TV Channel wants Dish Network Complaints

Well, this certainly explains the addition of LLC to the new names. Kinda hard to play the rebel cowboy when you have unlimited legal exposure!

    Various Echostar Companies Change Names

Hmm, what interests me more than the name change itself is the addition of "Limited Liability Corp." to both of the new names. But I guess when you are as rich as Charlie you have to shield yourself. I just think it looks curious.

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

Chris Walker, you are a funny man! :p You joined this forum this month (I'm betting today, actually) and as of right now, you have made 13 posts, all in this topic, and alll to trash and insult people who like (or prefer) DirecTV, Tivo, and Macintosh computers. Things must be slow at home, huh?

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

:yes Okay, I'll play that game. When I got my E* system 4 years ago, the installer assured me that I would have locals within 6 months. He had received word from E* that the final negotiations were going on even as we spoke. Care to take a guess at how that played out? Go ahead, ask me if New...

No reason to sign up new to DirecTV

:haha BWAHAHAHAHA! Dude! Have you been watching the "Charlie Chats" since August? I question E*'s close contact with their own operations, much less with their customers! I'll grant you that D* is tight-lipped but at least their customers don't seem to be waiting on false promises. How...

    Can I activate a 322?

Joe, you might want to think carefully about this if you are actually planning to buy more. I think Charlie said in one of the chats that each account would be limited to two of the 322/522 receivers.

    Live Retailer Charlie Chat Update

Doesn't this seem to be to E*'s detriment? The only advantage I can see to having the service plan is that a service person comes to your home so you won't have to fix an external problem (which I think most people here would agree is less likely than a receiver failure). With no contract, it...

    Dish Executive VP Resigns

Gotta go with Rad on this one. Dish announced products to generate excitement & loyalty then has problems delivering. I had E* for around 4 years, almost 2 of which was spent waiting for the 522 that THEY announced AND displayed at shows. Now that it is finally released, it's hard to get...

    My DishNetwork Rant!

[Warning: I'm going to beat up on DishNetwork for a pet peeve of mine.] I just cancelled my E* account because I gave up waiting for the 522 plus D* has my locals while E* does not (E* couldn't get a deal worked in New Orleans so we were passed over and go to the bottom of the stack). With...

    Sometimes I wonder - A Scott Comentary

 WOW, Scott! Since becoming an E* subscriber almost 4 years ago, and starting to read these message boards & Usenet groups shortly afterwards, I've always remembered your posts as being very upbeat and positive, even when the 'Chats' have been less than inspiring. If someone from...

    522 Dual Output

I'm asking this solely out of curiosity because I have already switched to D* a week and a half ago but can you clarify something for me: 1. At this time, the 522 CAN'T record two shows at once? 2. What's the big deal about the missing PIP function? (This is not a smart-aleck question...

EXCLUSIVE - DishPlayer DVR 522 Review!

:( Ya know, even taking everything into account from this less-than-favorable review, I would still have paid for the "privilege" of owning and using (and, thus, beta-testing) a 522. I would not even have griped about the $5/month DVR fee even though I don't have it on my 501. (Well, I would...

    Any Word on the 522?

Why don't you folks sell D* equipment? Given my druthers, I druther support your site (as I do enjoy reading the posts) but, unless it's staring me in the face and I'm missing it, I didn't see any D* stuff so I bought elsewhere. Bryan

Mr. Ergen, some of your customers are leaving...

I wonder how many of us feel/felt that same way and actually use to admire E* for being the scrappy upstart? I'm not a dish-basher, I just want my dual-tuner, house-server pvr. And if I can't have it, I'll settle for 2 DirecTivos at fire-sale prices. But I'll miss rooting for the 'little...

    Any Word on the 522?

Thanks, guys. No need to wait until Monday to order my equipment then. <sigh> The 522 is a great concept and one that would have kept me with E* even though the competitor offers my locals and E* does not. rad knows of a new customer who can't get one and Scott, who tends to be ahead of...

    Any Word on the 522?

I've finally set a deadline for myself. If I don't hear anything positive about the 522 being released to current subscribers, I'm switching on Monday. (D* answered an e-mail and soothed my fears about having one of my 3 intended IRDs in an RV and not hooked to a phone line.) Sooooo, does...
