    DirecTV Dish Merger ?

I'm happy with my HR34. I have no lag issues or anything. Very happy with DirecTV overall epsecially when it comes to sports. Dish doesn't have what I need --- MSG, YES, etc. If they ever do merge I hope Dish's programming issues don't carry into the new company.

    MSG gone too from DISH

MSG still has exclusive rights to the game. Whether or not Dish carries MSG is irreleavnt in terms of broadcast rights.

Will YES Network ever come to Dish ?

I jumped ship to DirecTV because of YES. Nice that E is flowing with so much money that they can discount a region with as many as 8 million potential subscribers.

Currently with DirecTV, but have ?'s about Dish

At this point, the difference is sports. Based on that it's an easy decision who to subscribe to.

    TIVO vs E*

Exactly.. The previous poster annoyed me with the "swat this fly remark". Dish STOLE someone's patent. They're their vampire... sorry for Dish that TIVO is being a hastle by protecting their intelectual property.

Dish Network to Carry 80 Channel Racetrack Network

My favorite sentence: DISH Network subscribers will be able to watch all of the exciting racing action for the everyday low price of $49.99 per month.

    Dish and sports, come on!

Former subscriber. Dish lost me on two Sports related items: YES Network and MSG HD. Both are deal breakers. I would consider coming back if they landed both. However, it appears this will never happen.

DISH Network(R) Reports First Quarter 2009 Financial Results

Actually DirecTV has been known (especially in recent times) of having strict credit standards. More so than E. If you read through a lot of their shareholder communication you'll see them frequently reference on how they are targeting "premier" customers. I think you're wrong on this one.

DISH Network(R) Reports First Quarter 2009 Financial Results

Well they're locked out entire large markets. For example, New York. By electing to not carry YES Network, they've effectively given up on the Metro market... but hey, it's saving them money, right? I'd sure like to rule out a pool of 8 million potential susbscribers.

Annual YES Network Thread (2009 edition)

Why is my DirecTV bill lower than my Dish bill was. Just more of cheap old Charlie.

    DISH NETWORK TERMINATES RETAILERS

I wonder if these "illeagal activities" are truly illeagal.. Remember their war against FTA?

Smithsonian HD dropped and replaced with Crime & Investigation HD

These are valid complaints and quite frankly why I left Dish. Channels here and gone all in the name of saving money. Last I checked, DIsh's price increase was more than Direct's.

    Left DISH and LOVE IT!!!!!

Oh boy... let the onslaught begin.

    Switching to Directv finally

I've had both D and E. Now with D. D SD quality is much better in my book.

    MLB Network

Heheh. Hard to believe that would be someone's major gripe. Anyhow, it's been said elsewhere that we may not see the D Tivos ship this year. We may need to wait to 2010. I hope he's wrong.

    MLB Network

I watched a lot of MLB network yesterday. It is already one of my favorite channels. Done very very well. Gerats sets, personalities, and programming.

    Switching to Directv finally

I'll say it again. I've had both services. E has better hardware.. the gap is not as much as some here would like you to believe, but it is better. When it comes to programming, D leads the way. They will have the channels you want (specifically sports) and you dont have to worry about constant...

    Switching to Directv finally

    Is that tone really necessary?

Fisher Communications Channels are BACK on Dish!

This never seems to end with Dish. One dispute after another.

    Center Ice HD

Rumor is that a) DirecTV paid top coin to get MSG HD and (b) MSG is requiring to be carried as a full-time RSN.
  21. D

    Center Ice HD

Just to clear up MSG-HD and MSG+-HD: Rangers- All games (home & away) will be shown in HD. Sabres - All home games will be in HD. There will be no away games in HD. Islanders and Devils - All home, and many away in HD. MSG-HD is only available on Cable and DirecTV. (No FiOS, Dish, etc)

    NHL Preseason blackouts

Correct. You could move and get MSG but no locals.
  23. D

    NHL Preseason blackouts

You missed my point entirely. You can "move" to get MSG without subscribing to center ice. BUT you wont get your local channels because they are spotbeamed... therefore, not worth moving.

    NPR National Feed

Why oh why do we fund public broadcasting :)

    NHL Center Ice

I somewhat agree here. I eventually just decided I wasnt happy anymore and paid to get out of my contract. TV is suppose to be fun.. the minute it isnt, you lose your escape.
