    what are my upgrade options?

I like the 211 idea but probably need two tuners on one receiver. I think that EHD is my best option right now. When we decide we really need HD for the 2nd TV, maybe Dish will have a better whole-house DVR solution at that point. (Or we'll "sling" it from the 1st TV to the 2nd) We've...

    what are my upgrade options?

Thanks for the information, everyone. I looked at equipment more on Dish Network's site. I thought I remembered from a while ago that the max size for an external hard drive was 750GB. Is that true, or is there newer software now that can use 1TB or more? Does Dish network have any...

    what are my upgrade options?

Hi all, I've had Dish Network for almost 4 years. I have a 622. It's still working fine, but I find that the more HD content there is, the closer we are to filling it up all the time. I know I could hook up an external drive, but I'm wondering what my options are if I want to upgrade. Here's...

NC @ Duke is blacked out on ESPN right now!?!?!?

I live just outside Raleigh -- in the heart of WRAL viewing area but I was able to watch the game on ESPNHD. Once I realized it was on WRAL also (in wonderful grainy glory) I was pretty surprised that it wasn't blacked out. Oh well.... :shh I'm not going to call and complain about it.

    Raleigh HD Locals

Dear <me>, Capitol Broadcasting Company is pleased to announce that DirecTV, WRAL-HD, and WRAZ-HD have reached an agreement that allows DirecTV to provide WRAL-HD and WRAZ-HD signals to their paying subscribers. As most of you are aware, DirecTV’s current spot beam only covers...

no line of sight - lazy installer or ??

Wow... I just hooked up a ChannelMaster 3020 OTA antenna... I'm able to pick up every local station including the ones on the "back" side of the antenna. The picture is much better than the HD locals. The Orange Bowl looks great! I no longer care when the HD locals are carried by Dish. Thanks...

no line of sight - lazy installer or ??

Just wanted to update everyone... I called Dish again and asked for a "better" installer... one who would be willing to work on the roof if necessary. The installer came out and found a site in the corner of my backyard that the first installed never considered. The Dish 1000+ is pole-mounted...

no line of sight - lazy installer or ??

So, it sounds like if I want the job done right and it's a complicated install, that I'll be more likely to get quality work if I pay the installer extra to make up for the extra time he'd be working on my install... I may be willing to do that... I'd like to get an estimate for that kind of...

no line of sight - lazy installer or ??

Hi all, Thanks for the tips so far. This was a contractor... From "Rocking R" http://www.rockingr.tv/ I ordered through Dish Network and this is who they sent. It sounds like it will be hard to hit the 129 satellite, but I think it could be done with a dish mount just behind the peak of...

no line of sight - lazy installer or ??

I am trying to switch to Dish from TWC in the Raleigh area. At my scheduled install yesterday, the installer was not able to find a location on my property where we could get line of sight without either placing the big dish right in front of my house. It also seemed like she wasn't very...

What's included with Dish Netwk free install?

Hi, I am planning on starting up with Dish network again soon. I have some questions about what's included in the install, and what I might need to do before the install. Thanks in advance for any answers! My setup: 622 receiver feeding an HDTV, and a SDTV in another room. 1 - The...

May make the switch from cable...some questions

I'm in a similar situation... Switching back from TWC to Dish network. I plan to keep the RoadRunner service, though. Depends where you live. I used to live in Northern Colorado... very flat and very few trees, so there were several local ISPs that would provide wireless broadband service. I...

    6000 deal

extra 8vsb UPS delivered my 8vsb yesterday. Interesting, because the installed brought one that is already in the recvr. Guess I'll hold onto it for awhile and see if Dish notices or cares. -R

    6000 deal

6000u install successful The installer showed up within the window Sunday with the 6000u and the 8vsb module. Apparently they had one in or near Colorado. He said I was supposed to get a remanufactured one but got a new one instead. The HD channels seem to have the colors off by a bit. Has...

    6000 deal

Thanks Tahoerob! Because of your message I emailed and asked for the same deal (I'm on the DHP, too.) They called me today and my installation is set for Sunday. I'm glad Dish Network decided to include us little people in this deal. -Ryan in CO
