when you say "dish tech" i think you are refering to dish network itself right, not local dealers- because the local retailer I worked for understood that it was required from dish

bcshields- echostar is paying you or your retailer for a standard pro install. You better check with your boss because a standard install includes a standard phone jack installed to dual tuner recievers. just like it includes rg6 cable installed (standard,through 1 wall,no fish) to each reciever.

You might want to consider changing those cables out- most store cable has minimal braided shielding(if any at all), not to mention bad crimp on ends. A lot of guys just use self tapping screws and shoot them through the dish (no bracket needed) when placing the switch outside. The switch...

yeah arty the 811 , 921 942 all do. the 811 is the HDTV box (new cust. rent it 5 a month, 9.99 programming) the 921 is a dvr that will record ota digital and the 942 does this plus has 1 hdtv and 1 std output to run two tv's (like its little brother the 522)
