It's connected to a HD-PVR 1212 capture device with a IR blaster to control the STB. With firmware L523 and below the (no inactivity) setting works and the STB will never shutdown or update until it's powered off. I have three 211 receivers but the one that's controlled is not even connected to...

Or keep in on L523 by never shutting it off or letting it go inactive. :) One day it will update and I will have to make a fix to mythtv to force a update when it's idle.

I agree, but I did say "fix it faster". Dish fixed it because one of the basic functions of the receiver was broken and it was out of dish networks own specifications. I have a harmony 880 thats programmed to do everthing, I'm sure it will handle that 80's monkey-wards set. I thought dish...

Dish made and branded equipment is also not working with the current release, it has nothing to do with third-party equipment. It's the 22khz switching matrix code that is hozed. Somebody screwed up the even/odd logic for sat 3 when using 129. The SW64 is a supported switch for DPP equipment...

FAIL! See above. http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/technology/installation/install-5.pdf Dish will fix the problems with the next release and adjust the testing matrix so future versions will be checked with a SW64 config.

If software written by Korean hackers can use legacy switches then the company that designed the gear and wrote the specs can make it work too. 30 min's with the source code to fix.

DVR schedule lockout option A DVR schedule lockout option would be nice. I have a 3 1/2YO who knows how to record to DVR every event from her cartoon channels. I had to delect 15 timers she added. She saw me setup a dish pass for "tom & jerry" and a week later, boom she took over the receiver. :)

Linux sees the external drive as a normal scsi block device with a ext3 formatted filesystem. With a single device on the buss there is plenty of speed for at least 4 HD I/O streams with a fast drive. Linux Kernel Documentation :: usb : ehci.txt

On the other 211, pure dumb luck. Most hard-drives require more power than the USB2.0 spec. Laptops usually supply more power to USB devices than required by the specification.

I got the standard "send it in for $10 or you can keep your owned receiver" with my upgrade. Mine was a three 211 receiver self-install. If you want to keep your "owned" receiver contact the executive office to put it on the ticket.
