    DVI or Component?

greg, take a look on page 1 of this thread, the post by bdemz. http://www.satelliteguys.us/showpost.php?p=290170&postcount=11 what is stated there is cold truth... there is no diff in high end or low end HDMI or DVI cables.

    DVI or Component?

IMHO the difference you will see between Component and DVI/HDMI will be in the "trueness" and crispness of the picture. With component the digital signal has to be converted to analog, then back to digital, thus degrading the signal and increasing the noise in the picture. While component is...

physical position of 501 receiver ?

Two things come to mind from this statement. 1.) Your experience must be lacking in the Hard Disk area if you are of the impression that the position of the mount will affect performance. Performance is not related to the mount of the drive, but rather the spindle motor and the read heads...

    Game over for me guys...

How messed up is it that "all you had to do was reboot it once or a week"? I too suffered with a 522, and I agree that these software revisions cause more problems then fixes. Because of crap like that, the now poor customer service and the poor excuse for HD I made the switch to DirectTV.

    New HD PVR/DVR

I did track the 921, and as long as there is information forthcoming from the supplier, in this case E*, then I'm willing to stick with the product that I'm looking for. I was waiting on the 921 for as long as anyone else, but I'm not going to spend $999 on a piece of equipment if there is...

    New HD PVR/DVR

One would certainly think that if Charlie IS listening that E* would be making noticeable steps to provide more HD. If not because we b*tch about it, then because D* is making aggressive steps to get there. I for one am a bit dismayed about the slow roll out of HD on Dish. To tell you the...

    New HD PVR/DVR

Not too long ago Scott featured a dual-tuner/dual-output DVR from Dish. If memory serves it was labeled as Dish DVR 942. Just wondering if there is any news out there on this product as to when we might get our hands on it. Also, do we know of any steps that Dish is taking to handle NBC HD in...

    Noticed something interesting...

Thanks to Micro$oft and all the problems around Win9x based OSes, Defrag is something us geeks think about often when we see poor system performance. If E* truly runs a flavor of Linux or Unix then the need to defrag a disk goes down alot. (as is noted by hall) One idea that has come to my...

    522 interference problem

To me it sounds like RF interference. If you can use any other type of connection to the TV, other the the coax, try it and I bet you'll be fine. I am curious though... could it be caused by the UHF antenna?? I'd like to know if it goes away with that thing disconnected

    522 viewing questions

I think boba has answerd that question... but I wonder what the swap button on the remote is for, or is that unusable if you have the TV1 and TV2 outputs going to seperate TVs.

    522 viewing questions

I posed this quetion to the gang over at broadbandreports.com, in the Satellite Group, but dont think I've gotten a response... Regarding a 522... what I want to do is have my main TV be able to get signals from both tuners, and also be able to feed off to a second TV. I suppose I could...
