Not sure if you are addressing me. My point about 2793GB was to show that the Hopper does support more than 2TB external drives. I know all about marketing vs "true" space... :)

Just bought a Seagate Backup Plus 3TB drive. It took about 10 minutes to format and it shows ad 2793 GB total space and the same number of free space. So I can confirm it recognizes some 3TB drives. I took it out of the box, straight to the hopper, no problem.

I can't speak to the HD issue. I switched from U-Verse back to Dish. HD quality is about the same. As for my Hopper, I finally put it in the DMZ after opening ports didn't work. Once in the DMZ, it works perfectly. Not sure I care if the hackers get it or not...

I disagree. Those adapters run about $65, a router runs less than $50. It depends on your level of technical ability, though. If you are a geek, you go the cheap route. If you are not, you go the gaming adapter route.
