Yup. I think this is the third season Dish hasn't had EI. I would think just about anyone that had a problem with that has moved by now and new subs know in advance (or should know) that they won't be getting EI/MLB channel. I was one of those that had a problem with that and was a Dish sub...

Just the Fios HD DVR alone is enough to not make me consider it.

    MLB Network

MLB Network has been showing the Don Larsen world series perfect game in it's entirety (except the first inning which is gone)....along with the original commericals. Never been done before. And, Larsen and Yogi are there to tell their story of that day. I like baseball but I'm not a...

I don't think the 2008 number is correct. I think it was $169 plus $50 for Superfan.

IMO, whether or not Dish renews EI 5 years from now is almost secondary to their problem of dropping sports packages that DirecTV consistently offers. Means nothing to alot of people but for many, they want the option of EI, Center Ice, Sunday Ticket, etc. to always be available. IIRC, Dish went...

    MLB Network

I wonder how likely it would be that Dish could swing a deal for just the MLB Network when all the other carriers had to agree to both MLB Network and EI. And now all the other carriers are part owners of the MLB Network. I'd say very unlikely, except, maybe at a premium price.

    MLB Network

From Wiki: Carriage The network has signed contracts with 36 cable and satellite carriers. In a deal that may be copied by other sports league owned channels, MLB tied carriage of the MLB Network to the ability to carry the popular out of market MLB Extra Innings - Wikipedia, the free...

Is there a major carrier that does *not* offer Extra Innings (which means no MLB Network either), besides Dish?

Verizon FIOS just added the MLB Network a month ago but they also added EI at the same time. So it appears the EI and the MLB Network are still tied together.

    Bad News For Dish

The high-end/low-end thing doesn't make sense to me.....and I've had both services (twice!).

Dish lied to new customer -- can I get out of contract? (NBA pass)

Dish seems to go down to the wire on these things. Two seasons ago it was MLB Extra Innings and they ended up not carrying it. Last season it was NHL Center Ice and they signed the contract right before the beginning of the season. No drama with Directv.

Dish lied to new customer -- can I get out of contract? (NBA pass)

I would say it depends what they told you. And if you have the name of the rep you spoke to. Did they say they would be carrying it? Maybe? If they said they would be and it was just a matter of days before the contract is settled then you have a case. Did they advertise it on their...

Can I op-out my contract because voom move?

I'd say you'd have a case if you joined recently and argue that Dish advertised Voom when in the background it was moving forward on eliminating many of its channels. I used a similar argument to get out of my contract when I signed up for Dish with the understanding it would carry Extra...

Just got a call from Dish

I think it's odd that they start calling you right after you make the switch. Do they really think that days after you have switched, that they can convince you to come back? I mean, people left for a reason and more than likely that reason is still valid after a few days.

    Heading for Direct I think

That is true. Note that you can't record directly to the external drive from the E* receiver. It must first be recorded on the internal drive and then you can move it over to the external drive.

    Heading for Direct I think

My only point is that if you use an external drive, it must be esata.
  23. stuckingoo

    Heading for Direct I think

OK. I used 'replaces' to distinguish the D* DVRs from the E* DVRs. You can hook up an external drive to the 622/722 and it *adds* to the internal capacity while with the HR20/HR21s the external drive *replaces* the internal capacity. I suppose you can get into the guts of the D* DVRs and...

How so? Your link describes external esata drives (notice the mention of esata cable included?)

    Heading for Direct I think

You need an eSata drive. It replaces the internal drive.
