No, D* needs to be active on them in order for the DVR functions to operate. SO realistically you could have the unit on your account and use it for OTA only, but it will not function as a "standalone" OTA DVR.

Bummer ... I have an HR10-250 image if you need one to restore to a new drive. You can try a C&D All, but there are no guarantees even with that, it is more of a shotgun approach instead of a rifle.

Rainbow media has an HD horror channel, but it is pretty bad most of the time. I think NBC probably has a better library. They may but not until those new birds are in the air.
