E* and D* receivers are not interchangeable.

    is this possible?

Install is basically done - I installed/peaked/grounded 3 lnb SWM dish and ran cable to rooms where needed. I work for a company that, among other things, does D*/E* commercial installs.

    is this possible?

The person I'm attempting to do this for absolutely doesn't sign long term contracts for anything - cellphone service, home alarm system, nothing.

AT&T picks DirecTV for their DBS partner starting 2/1/2009

This just tells me that AT&T doesn't intend on deploying Uverse throughout at least most of their footprint, otherwise why bother with either D* or E*.

Super Stupid Newbie Questions on DirecTv

I normally don't jump in to defend E*, but I feel the need to rebut a couple of your statements. Have you actually used a VOOM receiver? Visit the VOOM forum and you'll see why I ask that question. Can't be any worse than the D* HD channel lineup, considering that they both carry the same exact...

    HD picture quality on Directv

A couple of problems with this statement. 1: At this time, D* DEFINITELY doesn't have the potential for adding more HD as they're more strapped for bandwidth than E* currently is. D7S may ease up on compression a little and enable them to do more LIL, but not much else. 2: INHD is...

    HD picture quality on Directv

Be careful, that's borderline flamebait. Those are the two reasons I left D* for E*. Of course anyone else's experience may vary.

    Tivo, Replay, Or Directv Tivo?

Replay for me The dealbreaker for me was the ability to stream content from unit to unit without having to pay for HMO.
