AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

I Always so friendly as usual... It’s a tier one network so how do you go higher?

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Actually, Lumen (formerly CenturyLink/Level 3) has the largest tier 1 backbone by route miles in the US.

    This is crazy

I live way out in the country, and have 1Gbps/1Gbps fibre from our electric co-op. They’re actually the only ISP to serve this particular area now. CenturyLink did have 1.5Mpbs or 4.0Mpbs DSL but, since fibre came through, they lost practically all the customers that their DSLAMs in the area...

    AT&T TV National Launch

What branding is DirecTV? There’s absolutely nothing mentioning DirecTV on AT&T TV. The package names are the same and channel numbers, but Joe Six Pack doesn’t know that. Your average consumer wouldn’t get a hint of DirecTV out of it. Unless perhaps they’d had D* in the past or remembered...

What will happen to Directv going forward

Man, have you been under a rock? There are now ‘smart TVs’ with the FireOS, which ever Chinese outfit has licensed the ‘Toshiba’ brand name is making them now, along with Best Buy’s in-house ‘Insignia’ brand. I would expect more will follow. FireTV is Android based however.

What will happen to Directv going forward

I live in a county, 743 sq miles, 30,000, entire county is or will be covered. Approximately 75% as of now. And, nothing was automated regarding the installation, all manual labor, trucks, ATVs, even mules where the land is rough. It’s an exception to the rule for sure, but, it’s not ‘just’ in...

    AT&T TV National Launch

I ordered it, so I have to send it back, haha You know AT&T, I thought perhaps I could just take it back to the store, not have to mess with sending everything back UPS. Sent from my iPad using SatelliteGuys

    AT&T TV National Launch

I am glad it got some better for you. I think I’ll just stick with my DIRECTV for now, it works well and is reliable, and even with the AT&T TV, I’d have to swap back and forth all the time to do my Amazon Prime Video. Hope it works out for you. I have to go to day and ‘attempt’ to get all...

    AT&T TV National Launch

It is AT&T not Google/AndroidTV. I have used Android TV on a Sony TV for about 3 years, and I have had both a second and third generation nVidia Shield. They are great, super fast, no lag, absolutely no problems. As a matter of fact, I tried an AirTV Mini, from Dish, it worked excellent as well...

    AT&T TV National Launch

I tried it before I canceled DirecTV. You have 14 days in which you can cancel AT&T TV. I got it Tuesday and I am taking their sh!t back tomorrow to the store.

    AT&T TV National Launch

This C71 was the absolute worst piece of sh!te I have ever used. I have Roku's, AppleTV's, Fire Cube, Fire Stick's, and even a nVidia Shield, I have used many different devices for streaming over the years, but this is the buggiest box I can ever recall using. I cannot imagine that this will go...

    AT&T TV National Launch

The apps I installed just a couple, caused it to freeze up. Also, I tried to go into ‘settings’ a couple of times and the damn thing crashed from that. I got frustrated with it, unhooked it, boxed it back up, and reinstalled my HR54. This ‘osprey’ and his brother ‘osprey’ I got for another room...

    AT&T TV National Launch

They really should make it clear that not ALL apps in the Google Play store can be installed. As far is it being competition, it really is not, you've got the AT&T TV service, so you're not going anywhere, their getting paid. They wouldn't have to 'advertise' it in the guide like they do with...

    AT&T TV National Launch

I decided to 'try' AT&T TV, was going to plan to use it and have my Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, AcornTV, etc... without having to switch back to Roku or AppleTV. Long story short, I was going to replace my DIRECTV with it. I received the box, connected it, waited for it to boot and update...

Today was my last day as an AT&T employee

It’s like that everywhere. It seems any large entity that has many employees cares about them less and less as the years go by. I am in government, Federal, civil service. Still a good stable job with excellent benefits, but it seems over the years I have been with my agency the higher ups care...

TVAnswerman Has AT&T Predictions For 2020

The customer should be made aware of those costs, but I don’t see any problem with being a dealer/representative for Comcast just because they have those fees.

TVAnswerman Has AT&T Predictions For 2020

He’s just a small business man. You’d be doing the same thing if you were in his shoes. The burden to check all that out is on the customer. Anytime one is moving to a rural area from an urban/suburban one it would behove them to become informed about what internet services are available.

TVAnswerman Has AT&T Predictions For 2020

I’m sure you meant no offense, but I think it’s a fallacy to say that rural people ‘tend to have lower credit scores.’ I think if you researched you’d find in many parts of the country the opposite to be true. Also, I live way out in the country, the ‘woods’ almost, with four or five houses...

TVAnswerman Has AT&T Predictions For 2020

2020 Price Increase for DirecTV & U-Verse TV

Thanks for the additional information about must carry. I remembered reading something about legislation in the early 70’s regarding cable and must carry, but it has been long ago when I read about it.

2020 Price Increase for DirecTV & U-Verse TV

I think that retransmission consent was introduced with the 1992 cable act. Prior to that I believe there was a form of must carry. I know that in the 80s for TVRO and some cable affiliates, PT24 and Netlink (TCI) uplinked WBBM, WABC, and WXIA, and the Denver locals just as a common carrier...

2020 Price Increase for DirecTV & U-Verse TV

You do realize that despite how we feel about the price increases, AT&T is there to make the most profit possible for their shareholders. As a matter of fact outside of State and Federal laws they must follow, their only responsibility is to their shareholders, not you, not me, not eve their...
