I am currently using both Dish W/ for international and local programming and DirecTV w/ HR 34 for domestic and sports. Switching from Dish for most viewing was difficult. I kept the locals because Autohop is better than sliced bread. The HR 34 is very slow and buttons do need to be pressed...

Not sure how unique an iPhone app would be. Why should we pay $100 for a new remote when we all have $600 devices with speakers and microphones and Internet connections in our pockets.

I absolutely love being able to pause and play games and movies by voice when using the 360. The bing searches have gotten a lot better to. For me it is a great feature. Never used a DTV box but searching on Dish's system sucks. Direct is getting hooked up tomorrow!

The Hopper only records 6 channels when it is recording Primetime Anytime. It only uses one tuner to record all 4 major networks leaving 2 tuners for other content.

OTA antennas are terrible for HD in Louisville. All the towers are on hills surrounding the river valley, and it is covered in trees. This was a great by Direct and certainly will carry a lot of weigt in my decision to switch when my contract runs out.

Ok, so I figured I could save money by getting the new Dish HD only package, (I have to have Dish anyway for my wife's Italian channels) and using directv for my son's channels (Family) and my soccer (Sports Pack). If I pay the full $99 DVR lease fee, can I subscribe without a 2 year commitment?
