DIRECTV to Offer Local Channels in 172 Markets

As another inhabitant in an unserved area (Binghamton, NY) I can't hardly believe it's true. It's been 10 years at least since the rumors were swirling that E* or Direct were just weeks away from delivering the locals. When Dish lost the rights to distants and All American came in with their...

    How Much is Too Much??

That's when you switch back. In today's world one cannot not just buy it and forget about it. Recurring monthly services need to be comparison shopped on a regular basis.

    Possible HD-DVR price drop

I see the $20 off for 12 months discount is still be offered today even though yesterday was suppose to be the end of this. If I'm reading the fine print correctly, the offer has been extended to June 30th. Also the Visa $50.00 cash card is still be offered as well. Now if one can combine this...

    Possible HD-DVR price drop

Except that no one here yet knows what promotion Direct will be giving when this current $20 off for 12 months expires. One could see the HD price cut and some other programming incentive offered at the same time. Will have to wait and see.

Does using the D* abbrevation bother you?

Started reading that thread on this over "there". Got two pages into it and just shook my head as I wandered into the "whatever happened to DBSForums" topic which I was interested in seeing as I was one of the original members way, way back but haven't been there in months. Unfortunately, but...

It looks offical, D* sold to Liberty

When contact renewal talks come up again for the FOX owned programmers, it will be interesting to see if Liberty and Fox can agree. It also will be interesting to see if Liberty will still go forward with the planned launch of the new sat's next year as well.

I sent an email to Direct yesterday and recieved a reply that the CW is not offered as distant net. but rather only as a local if the local area has a CW affliate. So with two of us getting the same answer, it almost makes this a fact ! :p

    Question of Directv Distant Nets.

    Yep, that's me all right.

    Question of Directv Distant Nets.

Looking at the address broker for distant qualifications and I read this "Under the Satellite Home Viewers Extension and Reauthorization Act (SHVERA) DIRECTV is permitted to transmit up to two analog feeds or one digital (HD) feed of LA or NY TV station network signals “for private home viewing”...

    Need Info on Distant Net's

Thanks for all you replies. I appreciate your help ! Someone else has suggested that I could just downgrade my E* account to the superstations which would give me at least two feeds of the CW network and then get the remaining programming from Direct. I'm also looking at going back to TWC...

    Need Info on Distant Net's

O.K., I just tried calling Direct to get an answer, but all the CSR wanted to do is order me recievers even though I explained three times I wanted information on programming and was not ready to order anything. Think I was just two questions shy of actually having a Direct installer standing...
