    moved and now no locals

Your locals must be on spot beams? At your new location you can't pick them up. By the book nothing you can do, is it possible to pick up the locals (ALA) via OTA antenna?

    what is OTA

Look here AntennaWeb Follow the prompts this will give you a good idea about the type of antenna you may need, I am fortunate because I can use an indoor antenna to pick up my locals.

    what is OTA

OTA is over the air, if you can pick up your locals with an antenna. Some choose to do this instead of paying your provider for them.

    Sportspack in HD Question

My reply was to the original poster not yours, if you receive NESN you should receive NESN HD!! The NESN HD should be on a conus beam to allow the people that purchased the Baseball package to see it anywhere in the country.

If this turns out to be true, as in the past there will be exceptions for equipment older than (some date ) you will not be affected, for the rest which is probably stated in your contract no Direct service the box is a brick!! From a personal standpoint I don't like it but from a business...

Will tree branches and leaves block the signal?

The trees and growth will block the signal. Do you own a compass? If so find your AZ/EL numbers (you can get these from the Direct TV web page) and point it there you will have a good idea!!

    Diplexer question

Keep the pre-amp on the same side of the di-plexer with the antenna. Remember your Sat Receiver sends a voltage up to the LNB!! so if you allow DC pass on the antenna side that Sat voltage will also go that way !!

    Diplexer question

How do I scan and keep stations located in different directions?

After the original scan, after you move your antenna do not re-scan you must manually add the channels to your list. You can use www.antennaweb.org to get a list of channels in your area, this gives you a list of the channel numbers to enter manually.

Wireless Transmission of TV signal in Home?

If you use such a device such as the Leap Frog keep in mind it only has composite and RF inputs. And it has a problem with other 2.4ghz devices in your home. 30 feet is a workable distance.

Wireless Transmission of TV signal in Home?

300 feet away That's a long way to go take a bathroom break!! You must live in a mansion!! The only wireless solutions usually don't cover more than 100ft and they struggle to do that effectively. Can you run a cable part of the way, and then try one of the wireless transmit/receiver pairs...

Italy: Can I take it with me?

I don't know about there claim because I haven't tried it but I will repeat the Birds are stationed over the US and have a footprint to match. Is it possible to pick it up from Italy, I won't say it's impossible but improbable, hopefully some of the Satellite Gurus on this forum can answer that!!

What type of connection? S-Vid of Comp.

That sounds like a logical choice and remember since you have component inputs on your Display if you choose to try the component connection from a progressive scan DVD player you can plug it (video) directly into your display. Good luck and enjoy it.

What type of connection? S-Vid of Comp.

If you are not planning on adding a Progressive scan DVD or HD any time soon, you don't have a need for component cables, so the issue is N/A. If this is the case and I repeat if you don't think you will make the change (adding one of the above) don't waste your money. With a source and a...

What type of connection? S-Vid of Comp.

If you have HD or progressive sources you will need them, if cost is not a deal breaker get them to possibly future-proof yourself. (just in case later on you do want component switching you will have it). With all said above to answer your question for certain sources the answer is yes.
