DIRECTV Launches Univision and TeleFutura in Crystal-Clear HD

As to Univision on D11, guess that makes sense as I got Univision before now as part of regular choice plus package (or whatever they call it) and I only have a SL3 LNB. Telefutura on 110w or 119w makes sense as it is part of the Latino programming package.

    HR24-500

The biggest concern I have about going out and getting and HR24 retail is that if it goes bad would DirecTV send a refurbed HR21 or what have you in its place? They need to step forward and say this will not be the case for HR24s.

    D12 satellite - now we're receiving signals!

I suppose there is some spare capacity on D10 and/or D11, but not much. There is also Spaceway 1 which at the moment is basically dormant. But as they also have a need to get locals off of 72.5, I don't know they have much real "spare capacity" at 99 to 103 besuides that used for PV channels...

    espnhd quality

I noticed on my parent's ~48 inch LCD screen last night (Dish network) that the Cards-Brewers game looked very bit starved - homogeneous background information like the backstop or outfield wall padding looked rather macroblocked, and the fans in the stands, even with them intentionally out of...

    What about 110 west??????

They way the sat Dishes are set up, having 110w means you also have to have 119w. That is a problem for a lot of people in the eastern U.S. due to trees, so I would be surprised to see any national, English speaking channels at 110 or 119.

    What about 110 west??????

A whole bunch of customers don't pick up 110 or 119 anymore. I see a LOT of SL3 LNBs around these parts.

    HR20 OTA dropouts/pixelation

Which model HR20, may I ask? HR20-100s were known, I believe, to have some units with faulty OTA tuners. (I had one for a few days.) Have you tried the other HR-20s in that location, or are they also hooked up to OTA? I have had a HR20-700 for 2.5 years and it is consistent with OTA...

    What about 110 west??????

There is no evidence 110 is being abandoned. We just don't yet know the plans for the 3 TPs there and any unused capacity on 119. While it does seem silly to have a satellite at one location for only 3 TPs, and a trade with Echostar for 3 TPs at 119 would seem to make sense from a sat...

Can I add receivers on line?

You'd think a web page that opens up with BIG RED LETTERS that says, "Hey, Dude, this is a leased box and you don't own it or any part of it, and you also are extending your service commitment for 24 months by activating it", and a checkbox to acknowledge would serve the purpose just fine...

    New KA/KU Dish?

I believe the Slimline dish's reflector size is set by 99/103 Ka band gain requirements, not by the need to pick up 110 and 119. Otherwise, a Phase III size dish would have been developed for Ka.

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

No, the problem is the SL5 and SL3 stack the signals off the satellites differenty in the coax. The SL5 built in multiswitch will still be sending 110/119 info (or trying to whether it has 110/119 line of sight or not) down the stack anytime the 22 khz tone is sent by the receiver. However, if...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Yes, it "ignores" them is you select SL3, and only 99, 101, and 103 are available on the signal meters, and any 110/119 stations in the guide also disappear. If you connect the SL3 but have not yet re-set the satellite options from it being a SL5, it is kind of funny to see which 101 based...

pointing a slimline with a tandem suunto

Could you get by with a SL3 99/101/103 LNB? Much narrower view required.

The azimuth settings from the receiver - those are magentic (i.e. not true) bearings, correct?

With Dish launching EA on 72.7, did DTV turn off 72.5?

When DirecTV's lease is up, could Dish pick up the other 16 transponders? Would Canada allow all 32 with one U.S. provider?
