    Why Toshiba quit

Sales are good, but they still aren't making any money off the PS3. It is still costing them $400 to manufacture. PS3 production costs cut by half - PS3 Fanboy Microsoft wasn't as invested in HD DVD as Sony is to Blu Ray. Sure, then wrote some software, but for them, it was more...

    HD-DVD Picture Quality

Some other things are the size of your TV and how far you are sitting from the TV. I have an A-2 HD DVD player on a 42" screen and an upconvert on a 32" inch screen. On a smaller screen, the difference will be less obvious, especially if you are sitting a little farther away. Sometimes I have...

    Toshiba readying a BD player?

He was talking about his Toshiba TV, I think. Toshiba TVs allow you to label the inputs, and HD DVD is one of the display choices. He is saying he would like an update to show Blu-ray instead.

    Toshiba readying a BD player?

Home Media Magazine - Bringing Digital Entertainment To You This article suggests that they will be dumping HD DVD within a few weeks. That sounds a little early for me, but the quote in the article from the PR person isn't nearly as positive as previous quotes.

    Michael Bay Praises Blu-ray's Success

"Losers whine about their best, winners go home and f*ck the prom queen." I think the rock is his best movie also. I don't know why he feels like he needs to be a spokesman for Blu-ray. Seems like most in Hollywood are keeping out of it, other than Michael Imperioli.

Netflix Opts for Blu-Ray High-Def DVDs

I signed up for the Blockbuster online free trial, we'll see if they hold on to HD DVD for the next two weeks. I picked about 10 movies for my queue, only one had no wait, most were short wait. All my netflix HD DVDs had a long wait though.

Netflix Opts for Blu-Ray High-Def DVDs

I just my email from them. I give them credit for being up front and honest with their customers. I am not sure what to do about my subscription. I will probably wait a few weeks and see what Blockbuster does. HD movies have been slow to arrive anyway, I had a feeling they were holding back...

    Toshiba Strikes Back With Sales

I didn't say it was, I was just using it as an example. I think if Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, and Pioneer were making HD DVD and only one company was selling Blu-Ray alone, I think the sales break down would be better than the 50% for HD DVD standalone players we have now. The fact...

    Toshiba Strikes Back With Sales

I think this is one of the biggest problems. People like to see more than one brand selling a product. While Toshiba has a pretty good reputation, I had never bought a Toshiba product until my HD DVD player. People want to see the Samsung and the Panasonic and compare the two models, having...

    Toshiba Strikes Back With Sales

HD DVD Players selling well on Amazon Looks like the price drop has increased sales somewhat. The A3 is #1 in DVD Players, and the A35 is #3.

So you think the consumer really decided the outcome?

I think it has been said before, but HD DVD kept touting cheaper costs to manufacture discs but we never really saw that on the shelves. Blu had a lot of BOGO and seemed to have discs selling for cheaper prices faster that HD DVD too. They had a lot of $15 movies while HD DVD was pushing $20...

So you think the consumer really decided the outcome?

I am curious how the different studios make up the total number of movies released, not just HD Discs? Blu has 5 major studios, but do they make up 5 out of 7 movies, or do Universal and Paramount make a large enough number of movies to counteract that difference? Anyone know? I tried to get...

    Tell Warner How You Feel

I plan on moving on. I know a lot of people are passionate about this and I came across a way for them to voice their opinions to people who make decisions, so I posted it. If Blu-Ray fans want to tell them they are happy they went Blu, then so be it. I made my decision to go HD DVD, and I...

    Tell Warner How You Feel

I posted it more for the email addresses to Warner people. I wrote my own email, I didnt' use that text. I have no idea about $500 million payoffs. If they get enough letters, maybe they will reconsider. Letter campaigns have worked before. I own more Warner HD DVDs than any other studio...

REUTERS - WB to Announce Blu Only

What I don't get is why they would keep selling HD DVD until May? That doesn't make much sense to me. If the consumer wants Blu, why would they waste time and money on HD DVD? If it holds, the this is most likely the mortal wound, but I feel like we haven't heard the end of this.

Less Green; More Blu: Warner BOGO Update

I don't recall any HD DVD BOGO sales. I remember one, maybe two "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sales. They do give away the free movies with a player purchase, but Blu is doing that also. Wal-Mart had 10 or 12 free movies with a PS3 a week or so ago.

HD DVD Standalone Player Sales Nearing 500,000

I think his point was that the PS3 will function just fine without a HD TV. I am sure many are being bought for kids who most likely don't have a HD TV. For someone to buy a HD DVD player, you can be almost certain that they would have a HD TV to play the movies on. No reason to buy it if you...
