Rocky's iPad vs Galaxy Tab Review

I recently got a Xoom and still playing with the thing. It's a WiFi only one and been using it to help develop our new website to work with tab computers. Plus there's Angry Birds! hehe

    D-Star

Icom needs to allow other makers to put the D-star chips in their radios. Be nice if my Kenwood could do that.

    Is this forum dead already???

Although I'm a ham, just found this sub-forum. I think it's slow since there are some dedicated amateur radio boards already out there and this one being way in the back of the "shack."

Digital HD power outputs vs analog What they aren't telling us!

Well, IBOC is a fad and it will go the way of the 8-track and BBSs.

    AM Band Mess...

Some MW stations in our area are now using IBOC and it's a mess. Tuning around found a few stations splattered with the garbage being sent out from the "HD" stations. Also stations in Canada may start bitching soon... Link: AM Stations may be affected by U.S.A. HD Radio

    Is HD radio dead?

IBOC was tested at night in our area. What a mess on the MW band. Using it on MW should be abandoned.

    Is HD radio dead?

Ibiquity and CC is dumping all kinds of $$ into it to promote it. But it's dying. One station in our area have turned off their IBOC. Another it's been offline for about 3 weeks. I emailed one of them and the station's engineer said the new owners were not going to pay the high licensing...

Once you hear HD)) AM Or FM You will never go back to normal AM/FM

It's ok. It was hooked up to my reciever temporary when the reciever's MW section was having issues. Analogue still sounds better then the digital version. Forget MW as most AM stations like you're listening to tin cans. I have since moved the box into the game room hooked up to a DJ mixer...

Once you hear HD)) AM Or FM You will never go back to normal AM/FM

Other then the one Chicken Shack sold, probably Google for one. An long-range TV aerial will also work as that's what I used for my HDT-1 (that I got for my b-day) when I had it hooked up for a few weeks.

    Sangean HDT-1

That's too bad. Saw a thing on a tech show the other night that Onkyo is working on something that would have both plus Sirius and XM. That would be the ultimate box.

I Gotta Have One of These

Imagine viewing this mboard on it! Just touch a thread and it opens up! Someone at the bus lot was chatting about that and how one of those could work with our AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locator) system. Touch on a bus icon and found out how fast it's going, view it's security cameras, how many...

Apple Safari Browser for the PC!

You nailed that on the head!!! On one board (a vBulletin one) I used to be an admin on, they allowed 10 kilometre sigs and had no rules on them. When I suggested to limit them to 3 or 4 lines and have no or one very small image, I was out voted. So I voted myself off the admin team as I...

Apple Safari Browser for the PC!

They still need to make tons of plug-ins for the thing or make it so it can install FF's pluggers.

Apple Safari Browser for the PC!

I d/l the thing and installed it. It is fast. But it's getting limited use until an adblock plug-in is available. It's also not compatible with the text-to-speech screen reader either. I'm used to Safari on my Mac lapper though.

    Is HD radio dead?

In our area a couple of stations have turned it off due to x-mitter issues. I have an component IBOC tuner someone got me for my b-day a few months back, but it has since been relegated to the garage. The analogue sound is still better. If you hook a IBOC/HD radio to a large system, you can...

I forgot this thread was here. I've since moved the tuner into the game room hooked up to a DJ mixer. I did that when the one oldies HD-2 feed went Spanish.

    Sangean HDT-1

Although I'm not a big fan of HD Radio, having heard it in a car and it sounding just the same as good ol analogue, someone got me a home component tuner for my birthday recently. It's the Sangean HDT 1 unit. It sat for about a week until I was bored and hooked the thing up. I hooked up to...

    couple hd radio questions...

The digital subcarriers used for HD radio are broadcasted on each side of the audio carrier. That's why some radios will pick up "hashing" sound when listening to a radio station that uses HD or a station next to an IBOC station.. The way they broadcast is known as IBOC, which is In Band On...

HD Radio in Connecticut - A Review

Ever notice you can't find component HD radios to put in your audio rack? They're either portable or table units that sound like crap or car units. Many AM stations in our area turned off HD (or IBOC) due to problems. Like AM Stereo, it'll be a fad.
