What you think about this monitor?

Excellent choice, i'm no fan of Dell but they do make good monitors. I like this one because it maintains the real monitor standard of 1920x1200 not the HD TV standard of 1920x1080. It makes a difference in gaming.

New Technology Could Replace HDMI With Ethernet Cables

Still the cost of 10/100/1000 switches is coming down. I see this as the way to go. WIGIG shows promise from a wireless standpoint but the ranges are too short at present.

    Vista Service Pack 1 available

I totally agree, i had v-lite ready to go when it came out and it was a total bust. Damn Microsoft idiots

Adding Windows XP To A Vista Machine

I also recommend downloading EASYBCD (its free), it will fix your master boot record after the repair of vista using the vista disc (make sure you use the vista repair option not the reinstal). After you boot back into vista run easybcd and repair the MBR with it. The next time you boot you...

    Windows Vista Experience

Actually, most of the complaining has come from the gaming sector. A lot of things actually ran slower in Vista than XP. I am hoping SP1 fixes some of these issues as well. :)

    Ughh... a dead PC

I couldn't agree more! I had a power supply take out 3 drives (one with my entire music collection!). I had to mail a hard to a friend in CRNA school in baltimore to get a copy of most of the old stuff I had. I fu**in learned to back up my crap after that. In fact I got a DROBO for Xmas.

    What a freakin monitor!

Dude that's total overkill, you'd need a special desk just sit 2 of them alone. LOL. Hell, it's sure is nice to dream though! :)

    What a freakin monitor!

I know this item is a lonnnnnng way off and wayyyyyy out of my price range, but the pc gamer in me yearns (aka little devil on my shoulder says "you could rob a bank for this ya know" .... wink ..... wink). All I can say is that I wish i was at CES right now. Check out the link: CES 2008...

    Nvidia 3-way SLI

A nice idea from the standpoint of team work to produce a sum greater than the whole, but the aspect of garbage in garbage out will still come into play.

    Windows Vista Experience

Again, I have no argument about vista being a boat anchor in its present state. All i'm saying is that apple is special only because of it software not hardware. What i'm getting at is that if only Steve would let go of his obsession with being his own hardware manufacturer and make software...

    Windows Vista Experience

The only thing I question about apple's philosophy is that it see itself as a hardware company that makes software to support its hardware (a completely wrong assumption about its strengths IMO). I see it primarily as a software company that makes okay to decent hardware to support its software...

    Windows Vista Experience

The only thing about vista I would wait on is SP1. I am curious to see if some of the major flaws can be fixed. From a gaming standpoint, XP is the way to go hands down. My recommedation is similar to the mac, just dual boot your windows machine with one paritition vista and one partion xp...

    Nvidia 3-way SLI

There's a promotion for a 99 dollar trade in for the 700 series chip motherboard if you have the 680i board, but I just don't think its worth the money. Besides you lose your capacity to put a sound card in (which you can have when you pry it from my cold dead fingers). You could do water...

Buying New Computer - Processor HELP!

My two cent the recommendations are the q6600 and q6700 quad intels. Easily overclockable and being quad core somewhat future proof. Also did I mention they are both fairly cheap as chipsets go. If your squeamish about overclocking then look no further than the swiftech hr20-120 compact. It...

The second format war as if BD & HD-DVD weren't bad enough

When I read the article rom EET it seemed like Samsung was carrying forward with Display port and thus past the commitee stage. I have seen where samsung is gearing up for production in future ( TG Daily - Samsung touts development of first Displayport desktop LCD ) this will be a second...

The second format war as if BD & HD-DVD weren't bad enough

It shouldn't be a problem at all. TV's even hd ones still have lower resolution than the computer monitors as a whole. 2560x1200 @60hz or 60 fps is a lot of data but HDMI is capable (but I digress), you have more than enough pipe to route siganal for 1080i. The only issue you might encounter...

The second format war as if BD & HD-DVD weren't bad enough

Man, you are totally right. Man, I'm a complete idiot. I went back and reread the maximumpc article pertaining to this and misunderstood the intent. So i guess in a way this is a false alarm. Thanks for the heads up. The 30 inchers do however lack internal scalers and I don't believe the...

The second format war as if BD & HD-DVD weren't bad enough

Well folks I have been looking to get a bigger monitor lately and have been doing some research. I am down to two categories. The 27 inch class and the 30 inch class. The 30inch class you'd think would be a obvious winner but if you look closely you'll find some serious problems. The first...

gentle reminder for vista/zone alarm use

Just a gentle reminder that Zone alarm has now published it's free vista compatible firewall. I only point this out because at the time of this writing there are very few compatible vista firewalls. Yes, I know vista has it's own, but MS's track record in the firewall department is spotty at best.
