Cablevision Disavows Dolan and Dish Offers No Aid

Tyork, the argument is that Lobstah is saying that they should kill the installers and have everything a self installation. The problems V* is having with the installers is bad but noones going to pay 100$ for that 1.00$ installation.

Cablevision Disavows Dolan and Dish Offers No Aid

I don't have any problems installing the dishes, thats not the question. The question does an average consumer see the purpose in paying 100$ when they can go to D*, E*, or the cable for a free installation? Doubtful.

Cablevision Disavows Dolan and Dish Offers No Aid

How many people like to have satellite tv that don't know how to install it? How many people get it just because satellite it is different? One of the good things about D* and E* when it comes to non technically inclined people is that it includes the installation, they don't have to worry about...

Cablevision Disavows Dolan and Dish Offers No Aid

Thats rediculous, the only way V* can stay afloat is to market towards a greater target area. If we let people do self installations that would limit the number of new subscribers further. It would save money on techs/installations but that is a poor lack or forsight.

Cablevision Disavows Dolan and Dish Offers No Aid

I agree with the previous posts, E* has no obligation to the subscribers of V*. But upon the sale of the satellite, unless some deal is made to lease space off some other bird and figure out what they are going to do with the uplink, V* is going to lose more money faster than it should though...

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

The problem isn't getting subs. The problem is keeping subs. Anyone can gain thousands of subs but it will kill a company if they don't stay.

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

Look at quarterly losses, not the brightest future, it is something that they may dodge this bullet but they will need massive overhauls to get to an acceptable limit. I only used d* because it was the only one used in the example to bash me. I know full well there are other examples. And it may...

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

That being said v* doesn't have time to grow. The only supporter they have is Dolan, unlike the shareholders that d* had at that point. v* is bleeding money and doesn't have any supporters, hell the employees were given notices they were going to be laid off in 30 days. d* had more time to grow...

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

This blood bath hasn't been resolved and won't be resolved anytime soon. The only thing that is apparent is that Voom is dead. If not now then later. Even if Chuck foots the bill, at the moment theres only a small possibility that the FCC will deny the sale of the lisences for the transponders...

    Why wouldn't dish keep VOOM?

One thing you might want to remember is that's not how many people wanted the program, thats how many people dumped there current provider, or in many cases started paying an additional payment for tv. That doesn't include all the people on the outside looking in nor does it include all the...

    Vooms second bird

There is all this early speculation that Voom is dead and as much as everyone would love to see that Voom a couple months ago talked about putting up a second bird a while ago and the uplink that was purchased if I'm not mistaken is the newly rennovated one. That still leaves 1 the original. I...
