This spotbeam looks like it would work for you: http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/database/Subscription/images/E14_SBB16.jpg and it's on TPs 3 & 5, so that's a good sign, also. I don't know how many DMA's in that spot are lacking HD locals now, but it looks like two or more might get them...

No, what you are seeing on the 119 E*14 uplinks are HD locals on spotbeams. There will be many long-suffering DMA's (like Wichita!) very happy when they light up that satellite. :) It looks like E* is staying true to their word about only using TPs 1 thru 5 (at this time) for spots. Brad

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, there is no current satellite with an available spotbeam that covers your (huge) DMA. You will probably have to wait until E*14 is launched to 119 after the first of the year. I'm not sure that bird has the proper spotbeam, either, but I bet it does. Is that...

Yes, you do have to sub to your locals in order to see EPG data for your OTA's. aperry was referring to the fact that the EPG channels have to be uplinked for a given OTA channel or subchannel before you will see the data, even if you subscribe to locals. Brad

Everything left on these TPs are locals, which could be moved over to spots any night. I suspect we'll see some more tonight, maybe not all. All national HD on 129 is now on Ciel 2! @party Brad

OK, here's my prediction for tonight: We still have seven national CONUS HD channels on TP 7, and two on TP14 - that's all that's left on the TP's that will become spots (1-16). TP 17 has room for maybe 4-5 HD channels TP 19 has room for maybe 2 HD channels TP 23 has room for maybe 2 HD...

I don't really disagree with anything you say here, except that I believe we will have this duplication on EA and WA for way more than a year. By the time E* goes 100% MPEG-4 and has spotbeam capacity in place for all HD LIL's, they'll probably be installing ONLY EA or WA for a given DMA, maybe...

It seems to me that we've speculated for a long time that E*'s plan was to have BOTH eastern and western arc options for many DMA's. There are many good reasons to do this: Many subs have a mixture of HD and SD recievers, and this gives them the option of keeping it that way, at least until E*...

That's our CW station. So now, we have the "Big 4 plus 1." I can only guess that they did this because we're going on spotbeam (on 129) soon. I think there are a few other DMA's with CW already, but mostly "large" DMA's. Brad

As you probably know, bongohawk, their sister station KMBC-9 (currently digital channel 7) is installing a channel 29 digital transmitter, so they had to turn off 29 analog early. This means that KC will be an all-UHF market after Feb 17. YEA! :up Brad

If I'm not mistaken, TP 27 is a "new" transponder on 72.7W. HDPPV channels 541 thru 548 were removed from 61.5 yesterday, clearing TP 27 (and part of 16) over there. These new HDPPV channels on 72.7 (535 thru 540) could be replacing some of those, and making room for additional (HD?) channels...

As Bobby H said, KC has been getting HD LIL's for awhile from 129. This is interesting, though, since KC had not been announced as a new (activated) Eastern Arc city yet. I'm really crossing my fingers that KC will stay on Western Arc (also) after Ciel 2 is in place, since I don't have good...
