Windows Media Center and Voom Local Listings?

Wow, nobody uses Voom with MCE?!!! If you do and if you have both an analog and a HD tuner cards, do you get the local OTA guide in addition to the Voom guide on your HD card?

Windows Media Center and Voom Local Listings?

roachxp, any info on how you got it working? Thanks!

Windows Media Center and Voom Local Listings?

I've searched on tgb, but nothing came up. Do you have a thread pointer or a "how to"? It would be really helpful. Do you have to use two tuner cards to make it work?

Windows Media Center and Voom Local Listings?

Does anyone have a solution for the lack of local listings in the MCE guide? It seems like it would be an easy thing to fix, but nobody has done it. It is a deal-breaker for some in the HTPC community though, who would otherwise be Voom subscribers.

    Great, Big Dish!

Yep, the 24" solved my rain fade out problem too:-)

Is Voom PQ really better than DirecTV?

As of last night on most channels I checked, the PQ is close to being normal (as in before the new encoder). At least on my setup (a Panny plasma and an Olevia LCD TV)

Is Voom PQ really better than DirecTV?

Same here. 7 years with Dish, now a happy Voomer. PQ on most channels is noticeably better on Voom, particularly on SD channels. More noticeable on a larger screen LCD or plasma. Also the Voom exclusive programming is a breath of fresh air. I had stopped watching TV with Dish (other than...

    VOOM with HP Media Center

Media Center works just fine with Voom. Of course it will be in SD, since MCE will not record HD from any cable or sattelite, just OTA. The quality of the SD MCE recordings from Voom is actually better than what I used ot get from my old Dish DVR, although this is due to the fact that the Voom...

    Picture Position Shifts Up

So, it seems like some of the Voom channels are a little off in their positioning. Hope they fix it.

List of TV Models with DVI Problems

Please do not use this thread to ask for help from other members. The goal of this thread is to collect reports about specific TV makes and models which have problems when connected via DVI to the Voom STB. These reports will then be provided to Voom tech by Sean. Thanks.

List of TV Models with DVI Problems

Syntax Olevia LT30HV (30" LCD) Color inversion when changing channels (STB loosing sync with the TV through DVI?). To fix, have to turn TV off and on after each channel change. Works if resetting STB to either native or 720P, but after TV or STB are turned off, the problems comes back.

List of TV Models with DVI Problems

Help Voom help us. If your TV has a problem connecting through DVI to the Voom STB, let Voom know in this thread. Please list your TV make and model number, and briefly describe the DVI problem (e.g. color inversion when changing channels).

DVI Conflict w/ VOOM and Some Tvs

Sean, I can try to do a search later tonight. It might be a good idea to start a sticky thread so that people can put in their TV model numbers. This way you will catch some who may have not bothered to post until now.

    Picture Position Shifts Up

It seems that the picture of the Voom HD channels is pushed up when using DVI. When watching OTA HD, the picture position is perfect, but when watching Voom channels the picture shifts upward in varying degrees: on some channels just a bit, on some a lot. Plus there is a small rainbow square in...

DVI Conflict w/ VOOM and Some Tvs

Sean, Voom boxes seem to have another problem with DVI: I have an Olevia 30", which when connected through DVI would loose sync (I assume this is what is happening) every time I change the channel. The colors become inverted - really psychedelic. To remedy it, you have to turn either the TV...

If you don't pay your bill, do you still get OTA channels?

Pay the bill, man, if you use the service. Voom deserves it. Otherwise it's kind of like your boss saying: "ah, he is sick, don't know if I should pay him for last week...." Cheers.

    Broken Remote or NOT?????

Seems like a bad remote, so the new one will probably help. If your universal doesn't have Moto data, just use the Learn function (if you have an LCD one, you can create Green, Red, etc. buttons too:-)

    I want VOOM but I can't?

Yep. Just give them you cell number and don't get into details:-) I have VOIP over cable modem, so technically it is not a landline. And none of my receivers are hooked up to the VOIP anyway. Voom rocks!

Component output better than DVI output on the STB?

IMHO, it is important to calibrate the set for each input in order to be able to make meaningful observations.

Component output better than DVI output on the STB?

I have a 720p native LCD. At first glance component looks better (darker blacks, more saturated color), but at closer inspection DVI is more accurate (but the Moto box looses sync every time I change the channel). On my plasma I find VGA to be spot on, after proper calibration. So, I guess I...

    Voom and MEdia Center PC's

I have been using Voom with MCE 2005 very successfully. The MCE guide will provide info for all Voom channels, but not for the local over the air channels (this doesn't bother me, but may others). The quality of recording from HD channels is fairly close to DVD quality, but it will depend...

Non-linear Stretch Option For 4x3 material?

You are right about the formats. I guess it gets up-converted depending on the input and this is why it doesn't allow the non-linear stretch option (e.g. S-Video in allows non-linear stretch, but component or VGA in do not.) Wish Voom would get a programmer to spend a day on this.

Non-linear Stretch Option For 4x3 material?

Don't know RPTVs. Virtually none of the plasmas do it on their HD/computer inputs (I have a Panasonic), and the same goes for most LCDs that I have seen (I have Syntax 30"). Some may do it if fed 480, but not with anything higher.

Non-linear Stretch Option For 4x3 material?

I am fairly sure there is no such option, but it seems like a grave omission: Many Voom customers have HD displays (which are 16x9), but still watch some SD programming, which is 4x3. The two options I see available either create short fat people (when image is stretched), or crop the top and...
