Took the SGU timer off my DVR. I also got tired of the videocam thing. I suppose that was another common theme today ala Cloverfield and others that they wanted to add in. But in that case it was well done. In this case.... not so much.

Something significant could have happened to O'Neil during that time to explain things, so far as fandom goes. Anyways, I just watched 'Earth' and have no idea where SGU is going yet or what the major long term conflict is. Not even a clue as to what it might be. Also, the nerd-in-love story...

Blasphemy! A sci-fi show hiring an actress simply to get more males to watch it is terrible! Sci-fi is supposed to be about science, not sexiness. Now if you will excuse me I'm off to go watch Six.... erm.... BSG. :p

SGA had power and food issues at the very start. Didnt seem to hurt the show. Thus far its all about survival in a strange place and not the usual ' new mortal enemy' plot. I've never watched the show but Lost was the same, and it worked.

Until something bad happens to someone back on Earth. Maybe choke on a pretzel. Instant replacement... assuming the transfer would be permanent and could still be used by other people in the future.

Stargate has gone into the realm of CSI. Same stories, different settings and characters. That doesnt mean the formula is a bad one or that it will be unsuccessful. But I dont forsee anything new. Of course a better comparison is Star Trek. We shall see if this becomes the 'Voyager' (3rd series)...

It will still be the 'new planet of the week' for awhile just like the other shows were. Only instead of starting from a bunker or a floating city its a ship. I suppose they could have done a space station. Like Atlantis they dont have any control over anything. They had to do something to save...
