    WorldCinema-HD: Fellini's Roma 7pm EST

Maybe because Amarcord is not an epic, and really belongs on 102, World Cinema? :-) Actually, it sounds very Fellini-esque. If he were alive, he would make a movie about this, with Marcello Mastroianni playing a Voom subscriber, pounding on his HDTV in frustration, trying to watch a movie...

So what's next for 21 Exclusives?

I think we are on the same wavelength here, 1080i. Playhouse HD -- what a great idea! I don't get Ultra either. But Walter suggested that they use it to do bikini fashion shows -- good idea! "Honey, why don't we stay in tonight and watch something about fashion on tv.... Oh, look, Ultra has...

So what's next for 21 Exclusives?

I agree with 1 and 2, but not 3 and 4. 3 -- Moov is very different from the other two channels. I like Gallery pretty much as it is, though I would like to see more content obviously. Auction I never watch -- some of it is about art, but some of it isn't. I would not want to give up Gallery...

    ESPN Rant

Amen! Whats really annoying is, tennis can't be all that difficult to cover in HD. The court is smaller than most sports arenas, and it only takes a few cameras to cover a match. It has to be easier than baseball, football, or hockey, and a lot easier than golf, which needs tons of cameras...

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

If you are watching today, Nicko, maybe you could let us know if the coverage switches to HD when NBC picks it up this afternoon?

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Whoa, I need to watch HDnews more often! I am not aware of any HD coverage. HDTV Magazine, which usually (but not always) seems to know, did not list it in HD, either on ESPN yesterday and today, or on NBC over the weekend. And it definitely was not HD on ESPN last night. Coverage of golf...

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Exactly. Very little on ESPN-HD is actually in HD. Ditto for TNT-HD -- the only thing they have done so far in HD to my knowledge is basketball games. On the other hand, the Voom excusives, Discovery Channel HD, and (I think) Bravo, are always in HD.

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Don't think so. HDTV magazine does not list it as such. And I watched the rerun of yesterday's coverage last night, and it was not HD. I won't be able to check until tonight. It wasn't bad as SD upconverts go. Its good that ESPNHD finally eliminated the stretch-o-vision.

Will US Open be in HD?

Thanks. The Masters coverage this year had more HD cams than they used the year before, which in turn was better than the year before that. I haven't watched as much of the regular tournaments, but it doesn't seem like they use as many HD cams as at the Masters. I agree, its good that CBS is at...

Will US Open be in HD?

ESPN and NBC are covering the US Open this weekend. I have not been able to find any information on whether they will be covering it in high definition. I assume that if they were, they would be advertising that fact, so I am guessing that they are not. And so far, to my knowledge CBS is the...

    Divine? or not?

The problem with this poll is that several of the choices are not mutually inconsistent. I agree with three and a half of the choices. I agree that Divine does not represent a movie genre, although I'm not sure what officially makes something a genre. In any event, to me that is not a reason to...

would you like local channels by satellite on Voom?

Ditto. Providing LIL in SD is pointless for HDTV owners, which is why I never subscribed to locals when I had D* -- I used an antenna to pull them in, just like with Voom. providing LIL in HD would be cool, in theory, for those who have trouble getting OTA reception, but it would consume an...

    Hi from MOOVlab Boston

    1. I put MOOV on as background while puttering around the house. 2. I watch MOOV between other programs, or while waiting for somethng to start. Example: I want to watch the Sopranos at 9, I power up the TV about 8:45 and want something to look at for 15 minutes. MOOV is good for this because...

    Hi from MOOVlab Boston

I'm getting to like Moov. I put it on sometimes as "background" and watch when something really interesting comes on. I really liked the model railroad segment. I'm not sure why -- it just fascinated me. I guess it was like having a train set again to watch.

To Me Getting HDNET or InHD is a moot point if...

You have a point there about HDNet and INHD. I used to get HDNet when I was with D*, but dropped it after they grouped it with the HD package and started charging extra. It had great picture quality, and some of the content was good. But it took a very quirky, grab-bag approach to programming...

    Voom HD Original Webpages online

I agree that it makes sense to merge it with Cinema 10. I actually liked some of the movies they have shown on Epics, but most of the movies on Epics were also shown on one of the Cinema 10 channels at some point. It was sort of like Cinema 11, and it didn't make sense to have it on a separate...

It is 6/1, do you know where your new HD channels are??

I would interpret "up to" as meaning that 39 HD channels are available as of 6/1/04, and that you can get "up to" that many if you want to pay for them (with the basic Voom package, obviously, you get quite a few less). So Voom is late in getting some HD channels up and running. I would like...

Starting June 1, Cinema 10 changes its current format to 2 movies per day

Agreed. Old movies can be great -- a lot of them are better than new movies. My issue with Cinema 10 is not that the movies are old, but that a lot of them were not very good movies to begin with, and they are not any better 30 or 40 years later. Cinema 10 has shown some highly-regarded movies...

Which stations would you sacrifice for more HD?

I would not eliminate any mentioned in the poll. My choices: 1. SD clones of HD channels -- HBO-SD, ESPN- SD, etc -- that have the exact same content, just in lower definition. (I am not referring to things like HBO2, which does not have an HD counterpart, or things like Bravo, which has...

    WorldSport Future Programming

Doesn't OLN still cover the Tour de France? Of course OLN is only in SD. How about OLN converting to HD -- if its ok to dream, let's dream big! :)

    WorldSport Future Programming

I agree 100%. More live matches, add coverage of matches from other countries if possible, and mix in some other sports like rugby and aussie rules football. But I don't need another channel broadcasting the domestic sports that the other networks cover. (We need the other networks to...

Met with the Directors of Programming for VOOM 21 Exclusive Channels

Wow, great report, and how exciting that you got to meet the folks behind the scenes. I strongly agree that Cinema 10 needs more turnover in movies, and should preserve OAR as much as possible. But I guess I am different from other folks in that I like the fact that the same movie repeats on...
