I don't think that's true. In this thread on AVS...

He may not give a crap what ABC does with it but it was originally supposed to be shown in HD.
Detroiters own this thread!
1. Puberty Blues (early Bruce Beresford movie from australia)
2. Youngblood (rob lowe ice hockey movie)
3. Bottlerocket (Wes Andersons' first film)
4. Groundhog Day
5. Any and all John Hughes films
That seems strange. I thought it was filmed with HD cameras -- or at least filmed in digital. Wouldn't that make for an easier HD print? Plus Robert Rodriguez is a big HD fan so it seems odd that his film is not getting the full HD treatment.
This does not show up in the guide as HD -- which is strange because I thought it was filmed in HD?
Has anyone seen it yet to verify whether it is true HD or an upconvert?
I didn't watch this yesterday but in the program guide it was not listed as being HD.
It's one of my favorite movies so I'd love to see it in HD so hopefully the PG is wrong.
This was a separate thread, but I guess I should paste iot in here...

I watched the beginning just to see what it was like and I got totally hooked.
I give it 4 stars out of 5 but be prepared for a totally bizarre movie...
I think that number is the number of times Voom has re-run that particular movie. For the example of S.O.B. -- Voom has shown this movie 25,360,000 times.
Voom plus Starz pack. I had HBO during Sopranos season but switched after the finale. I've found that I've watched many more movies on Starz/Encore than I did on HBO -- but HBO does have good series.
It can be! The one-day games more than the 5-day games :)
Plus for those of you who aren't into it there is a whole bunch of grass on a cricket field -- and grass always looks great in HD!
Give me cricket over baseball any day.
I'd love to see aussie rules too. I don't think they film in HD yet though (although all games are filmed in widescreen). Also Fox Sports World has the exclusive rights to it in the U.S. for right now.
Hopefully WorldSport can figure something out though.
I would also like to see blockbusters like Phat Beach, Screwed, It's Pat, Free Willy 2, Police Academy 7, Tank Girl, AND ANYTHING WITH McCAULEY CULKIN IN IT!!!
I think it's a great idea to add some niche channels like this to attract specific groups. For example if a sat provider offered an Australian only channel I would jump on it for sure.
And I'm glad this isn't a la carte because it sounds like it might have some pretty good movies/programming.
