Looking to get an FTA system, but have a few questions

I would suggest Googling the major manufacturers of FTA receivers and seeing who distributes them in your area. I did it myself a few minutes ago and found a couple of places that carry Fortec in LV. You can probably just call them and ask for a recommendation for a local installer.

    Shop in Los Angeles?

Kewltea, please PM if you're interested in the LNB. I also have a three LNB offset bracket (never used), plus a couple of no-name circular polarization LNBs -- all purchased from Dish Experts. I'm not an FTA maven by any means, so I'm not able to address how good the Microelectronics...

    Shop in Los Angeles?

Thanks, Kewltea. I'm glad you got what you needed! No worries on the dish. I'm just in spring cleaning mode and trying to get rid of unneeded stuff that's been accumulating. FYI, I'm in Playa del Rey...

    Shop in Los Angeles?

Kewltea, are you interested in buying my 36 inch dish? As I said, it's still sitting on my roof and I will probably never use it again. I also have a nearly new Invacom LNB that was only exposed to the elements for a couple of weeks before I took it off because I could no longer receive the...

    Shop in Los Angeles?

Hey Pro! Yes, I owe this contact to you -- credit should go where it's deserved! :) Yes, they (me) all lived happily ever after with the 90cm dish -- until Expressvu moved their 82 degree beam away from me, thus rendering the purchase a waste of money. It's still sitting up on my roof...

    Shop in Los Angeles?

I've bought from Dish Experts, which is located in an industrial section of Glendale. They don't have a store per se. It's more of an office with a warehouse in the back. What's great about them is they're open on Saturdays until around 2 PM (but call them first). They also offer a cash and...

Using My 90cm Dish on Starchoice

This is great -- thanks so much! I just have to figure out the timing, as far getting the new receiver and selling the old one's....

Using My 90cm Dish on Starchoice

Thanks, PSB. I've played around with the multi-LNB adapter, but how do I know how much skew I'm actually applying, without just guessing? I'm used to Dishnetwork/Bell dishes that have degree marking etched on the mount.

Using My 90cm Dish on Starchoice

I bought a conventional round 90cm dish a few months ago in an effort to restore my 82 degree Expressvu signal into Los Angeles, after the company shifted things around. (Obviously, that didn't work, as the beam moved ever-northward). Question -- I'm about to switch to Starchoice and I'm...

What's your signal strength on Nimiq 82W?

I spent a bit of time tweaking this afternoon and even installed a new LNB, just in case this was the problem. There was no change and unless I have a problem with trees, then I'm afraid that Bell only made things worse for us in the Southern US.

What's your signal strength on Nimiq 82W?

Is it just me or are signal strengths down in Southern California on 82 transponders 5 & 9? I posted on a separate thread that I had installed a 90cm dish to restore SN-HD, CTVHD-E and CTVHD-W after the transponder shuffle a few weeks back. I was receiving signals in the mid-40's, which was...
