Need North America Satellite .bin file for Satlink WS-6906

I totally get what you're saying as well, but since DVB-S signals make up less than 10% of the signals up there it would not be hard to just look up the few DVB-S signals that still exist, write them down and add them to the meter. The other problem with tuning a DVB-S channel on that meter is...

Need North America Satellite .bin file for Satlink WS-6906

These are pretty limited these days. They don't support DVB-S2, so your signal options on each sat are pretty limited or non-existent. As suggested previously, use Lyngsat or Tvrosat to find a sat/transponder that it can receive and plug it into your meter. It's pretty easy on these things...

    Ku on big dish?

I did my first incarnation as a prime focus Ku with a Cband sidecar on my 7.5' Unimesh. My thinking was that the Cband was more forgiving and I could focus on Ku reception. It worked great. Then I moved to a bigger dish - 10' KTI and a C/Ku corotor. My Ku reception is at least as good or better...

Can't reset soft limits... actuator problem?

My ASC1 had a stuck relay on two different occasions - years apart. It was an easy fix - open the bottom of the unit with an allan key (where rubber feet are) and gently tap the relays inside. The difference in my case was that it was only one relay and it would move in one direction. Worth...

Repurposing My Orby Boat Anchor Dish

If you are interested in adding a dual LNB to the Orby dish - I believe it is the same as the 60cm Shaw Direct Channel Master dish, which originally came with a dual Ku for 4 degree satellites 107 and 111. They got upgraded to an xKu/Ku a few years ago and a lot of the original dual Ku are...

What's the deal with NBC Mux Ch4 on SES-3 (103W), KU?

Those channels are most definitely monitor channels. You'll see teleprompters, empty news rooms, NASA, and 12 years ago I watched a SNL rehearsal. Super cool MUX to watch. Your Orby dish (65cm) is pretty small. Consider a bigger dish. 65cm is good for music on 103

    Repaint BBD???

My understanding is that hydrocarbons, like most plastics and resins, are transparent to microwave. I think that as long as the flexseal meets that criteria, then it should be fine. The easiest would be to spray a smaller, more disposable dish with it, maybe with a good meter hooked up to it...

    Repaint BBD???

Thanks! I'm very happy it worked out as well as it did. The original paint was flaking off in a bunch of spots and the centre plate was from my previous 7.5' Unimesh which was grey. I painted it with some cheap black spray paint when I put it up a few years ago but it was getting thin in a few...

Looking for suggestions for FTA satellite dishes

I recommend that you take the advice to look for a free 10ft mesh as these members have suggested. Having myself gone the long route of 3ft Ku -> 4ft Ku -> adding mini bud hardware and tweaking -> 7.5ft primary Ku with sidecar Cband -> 10ft dual Corotor. Everyone gave me similar advice early on...

    Repaint BBD???

I painted my 10ft KTI yesterday when I installed my new pole. Flat black Tremclad with a fluffy roller on a pole. A very few number of my mesh holes filled in with paint, but don't care. It looks new.

Having issues setting up ibravebox v8 HD with Galaxy 19

I had a previous model of iBravebox - I bought it because it was advertised as capable of receiving ACM/VCM signals, but it didn't. A common problem with that model was it would randomly stop powering the LNB - resulting in a signal loss message. I junked it.

    CSPAN analog still there?

Maybe means TRY IT! It also could mean using the ASI port (digital) vs composite video (analog) to be used to switch cable headends from analog to digital.Good luck!

    CSPAN analog still there?

I'm using a Motorola DSR 4500X - this model is capable of receiving DC2 un-encrypted channels ZK and FP mode as well as tuning in analog channels -CSPAN. It cost about $75 at the time. I suppose if you're looking for a dish mover, then an old receiver would be better. If getting CSPAN + a few...

    CSPAN analog still there?

The original transmission agreement probably makes a very specific demand, that in literal terms spells out that the cable consortium must provide a transponder and analog signal ..bla..bla..bla - fast forward 50 years and they still are.

    CSPAN analog still there?

Watching CSPAN analog is like a trip back in time - Just for fun you can give the dish a few clicks off target and watch through the snowy static just like we used to watch TV on our old OTA antenna. Ah memories.

    Dead Ku-band LNB

Bandstacked LNBs are a specific type and require a specific option in a receiver. They will receive both vertical and horizontal frequencies simultaneously and send them both down the same cable to the receiver, using twice as much bandwidth. Where one polarity ends, the other begins. The upside...

    Dead Ku-band LNB

Isn't that a bandstacked model? It should show signal but won't show quality unless your receiver had a bandstacked option.

Has anyone made a mini-headend at home?

Has anyone made a mini-headend at home?

That is exactly the reason hotels want a head-end instead of STBs in rooms. Many people can't or won't learn the steps beyond On/Off Channel Up/Down Volume Up/Down. With FTA stuff, depending on the box, you can set up channel Favourites which can make it easier except for the delay if there is...
