I have listened to maybe 15 minutes of terrestrial radio in the last two years since I've had Sirius... at least 15 minutes that were my option. There's one station locally the kids play at work.. and I swear they play the same 5 songs every hour... if I hear "My hump my hump my hump" one more...

On Stern's show.. the commercials are like 3 or 4 spots, every hour. Half of them he talks through. Same with the Bubba and Farrell on 101.

500 million / year = 3.12 million subscribers at 12.95/month. Considering some of the subscribers are secondary subs at $6... Stern would have to generate sone 4-5 million subs himself just to pay for himself. I can see that happen after 2-3 years. This is going to be interesting.

If you read on through the article, the CFO for Sirius said they count the cars because that's when the company in the contract pre-pays for the service. If I was an investor I'd be more worried about the (subscriber=money coming in) verses (subscriber=listener).

I can verify.. I heard the announcment while on Talk Central a few hours ago. When Stern's contract runs out, in 2006, they're jumping ship to Sirius.

I don't think they can afford Stern... but what's more debt for Sirius after paying so much for the NFL.

I found out something today... in the menu, you can turn up the output level. I maxed mine out and it helped with the low volume and curbed a little bit of the static I hear on the talk channels.
