I'm thinking comcast will get my money for a few months until D* get's their $h1t together. They are running a deal right now for Digital Plus and STARZ free for 3 months. The HD BOX is free and for $9.95/mo I can get the DVR.. I just wish the box did OTA so I could record the local channels...

The could definately add other plus packs.. D* has the sports pack in addition tot he movie channel packs.. Also they have 2 tiers of basic service.. I think if voom stays around they we redo their pricing structures and rethink what belongs with each package..

I think they just need to lower the price of thier plus packs.. I mean for $20 you get one, but for $40 you get all 4. I know the idea is to give incentive to sign up for all, but they should probably tier the pricing like D*.

Any Idea if they will make any official announcements in the next few days? Considering they put up a site telling us it was gone by the 31st, then put the site back up, then back down, etc... I think they owe us at least a quick comment...

By definition doesnt an interlaced scan only send half the frame at a time vs progressive that sends a combined even/odd twice as often (or a little more in the case of dvd's that use 24 frames per second)?

By using simple math 1080i to 1080p should double the required bandwith (double the pixels per frame, instead of 540 lines every frame youd have 1080 lines per frame)... I dont think it will be a broadcast standard anytime real soon.. Broadcasters already want to downrez stuff to keep people...

Would be good for HD-DVD if they ever ratify a single standard.... Think of the improvemnt of 480i->480p on current DVD players (although mine upconverts to 1080i pretty well)...

Yeah they look nice.. There are already 1080p LCD tv's out... They are extremely expensive though..

Personally, I go watch it at my local sports bar and then watch it again for free (on HBO) a week later.. I can't justify 50$+ for a single fight that could be over in 90 seconds.. As for movies, netflix is almost as convenient and you got no surprise bills..

I have to agree. The last few nights cartoon network has been unwatchable. I have seen so many fragments at some times it appears like they are running 2 versions out of sync..

Watching toon network too and just saw a big chunk of scrambled crap (pixelation) in the lower right of the screen.

I was just there, maybe its busy with people looking for some news (there is none there) try again.
